Washington - "Jerusalem" dot com - Saeed Erekat - Al-Monitor published a report on Wednesday under the title "Military Minds Gather in Israel, While the War in Ukraine Redefines Strategies". A magnet for foreign security officials from dozens of countries.

Al-Monitor says in this regard that a high-ranking Israeli military source said on condition of anonymity: "They appear in large numbers from countries in the West that have already eliminated the possibilities of war, as well as from countries with which Israel does not have diplomatic relations. There is an urgent sense of the need to raise the level of military capabilities as quickly as possible, especially in the field of self-defense."

The source added, "Take Germany for example... After the world wars and trauma, it reached a semi-peaceful stage. Now they are waking up."

Al-Monitor quotes the source as saying, "Many Western countries neglected their military power and made it a marginal role within their set of priorities. Suddenly they realized that the era of peace was an illusion."

As a global power invades its neighbour, deploys massive force, bombs cities and kills civilians in numbers not seen in Europe since the world wars, and the sun continues to shine. It changes the perception and strategy of every sane place on the planet."

The report notes that even as Israel is calculating the unexpected increase in its defense exports (which have already broken records this year), it - like other countries - is currently weighing the strategic implications of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
