London – (dpa) – Chelsea Football Club confirmed that a commercial consortium led by Todd Bohle has agreed to all the conditions to buy the club from Roman Abramovich for 4.25 billion pounds (5.24 billion dollars).

Bohli, co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team, won the race to buy Chelsea, amid the largest public sports takeover in history.
Bohli, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansi-Jörg Wiese will have to wait for approval from the Premier League and the British government before signing the takeover contract.

A Chelsea club statement said: "Chelsea Football Club can confirm that an agreement has been reached with a group of new owners, led by Todd Bohle, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hans-Joerg Wies, to acquire the club."

The statement, published by the British news agency “BA Media”, added: “Out of the current total investment, 2.5 billion pounds sterling will be allocated to purchase shares in the club, such proceeds will be deposited in a frozen bank account in the United Kingdom with an intention to donate 100%.” From it to charity, according to what Roman Abramovich confirmed.

He added, "It will require obtaining the approval of the British government to transfer the revenue from the frozen bank account in the United Kingdom."

And the statement continued: “In addition, the new owners will commit to pumping 75.1 billion pounds in other investments for the benefit of the club. This includes investments in Stamford Bridge (the club’s stadium), the academy, the women’s team, Kingsmeadow Stadium, in addition to the continued financing of the Chelsea Foundation.”

The statement confirmed: “It is expected that the sale of the club will be completed at the end of this May, after obtaining all the necessary regulatory approvals. More details will be provided at that time.”
