Blinken: Russia's use of Iranian drones is "terrifying"
Ottawa - (AFP) - US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken described the Russian forces' use of Iranian drones as "terrifying," stressing that the United States and its allies are determined to prevent the delivery of these weapons.
Blinken said during a visit to Ottawa that the use of these marches to "kill Ukrainian civilians and destroy the infrastructure they depend on for electricity, water and heat" is "terrifying".
He added, "The United States and Canada will continue to work with our allies and partners with the aim of deterring Iran and preventing it from delivering these weapons."
Kiev and its Western allies have repeatedly accused Moscow of using Iranian drones in its attacks in Ukraine in recent weeks.
Ukraine said that Moscow used about 400 Iranian drones against the civilian population, pointing out that it had requested to provide it with about 2,000 of these drones.
But Tehran denied these accusations, and its foreign minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, confirmed this week that his country had not provided Russia with any weapons or drones to use in its war against Ukraine.
The United States, Britain and the European Union have previously imposed sanctions on Iran over the drone issue.
And last month, Kiev decided to significantly reduce its diplomatic relations with Tehran.
