BEIJING (Xinhua) -- China's National Health Commission said Monday that last Sunday, the Chinese mainland reported 692 confirmed locally transmitted cases of COVID-19 , including 582 cases in Hainan Province.

A total of 1,620 new local asymptomatic cases were identified on Sunday, including 580 in Hainan, 523 in the Tibet Autonomous Region and 343 in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the commission said in its daily report.

The commission added that a total of 128 COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovery on the Chinese mainland last Sunday.

The total number of COVID-19 patients who have been discharged from hospital after recovery on the Chinese mainland has reached 224,571 as of Sunday.

No new deaths from COVID-19 were reported on Sunday, while the total number of deaths reached 5,226 on the Chinese mainland, according to the commission.
