The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) expressed its "deep shock" over the deaths of eight Palestinian Red Crescent paramedics, five civil defense personnel, and a UN employee who had been missing for eight days after being besieged by Israeli occupation forces.
"These workers and volunteers risked their lives to provide support to others, and we express our deep sorrow and share in their loss with their families, loved ones, and colleagues," the Red Cross added in a statement.
The statement continued: "Since that day, the ICRC has continued its regular contacts with the Red Crescent and various parties, requesting access to these volunteers and coordination to locate them."
