Trump leads Harris as race nears
The results of the US presidential elections came in on Wednesday morning, showing a remarkable lead for former President and Republican candidate Donald Trump over his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump snatched a valuable victory in two of the seven swing states, Georgia and North Carolina, while the competition is still fierce in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona and Nevada.
The elections were marked by extreme polarization among the candidates' supporters, and the world's eyes turned to America to find out the identity of the 47th president.
Republicans seized control of the Senate from Democrats for the first time in four years, while the race for the majority of representatives is witnessing a fierce competition.
The voting process witnessed a large turnout, and was not without limited incidents that delayed voting in some crucial districts, whether due to technical failures or false threats.
The initial results showed that Trump's bet on the economy and immigration issues was successful, and that he was able to make a slight breakthrough among women and ethnic minorities in some swing states.
Harris' campaign said it would not address supporters tonight, saying it was working throughout the night to ensure all votes were counted.
