Israel announces the capture of 200 Palestinians in Jabalia and violent shelling of several areas in the Gaza Strip

Israel arrested dozens of Jabalia residents and intensified its artillery and air bombardment of several areas in the Gaza Strip, and continued to force hundreds of families out of shelters in northern Gaza.

The Israeli army announced that it had arrested 200 people it described as terrorists from the Jabalia area since the start of the military operation in the area.

Medical sources told Al Jazeera that 42 people were killed in Israeli raids on the Gaza Strip since dawn yesterday, Wednesday, most of them in the northern part of the Strip.

Al Jazeera reported that the Israeli occupation artillery shelled the northwestern areas of Rafah city in the southern Gaza Strip, and that an Israeli raid targeted the southeastern area of Deir al-Balah city in the central Gaza Strip.

In the north, Al Jazeera reported that there was artillery shelling and gunfire from Israeli tanks and drones in the Jabalia camp and the Beit Lahia town project, which led to the martyrdom of two Palestinians and the injury of others.

Al Jazeera footage showed a number of besieged families taking to the streets at night, after their homes and surrounding areas were subjected to artillery and air strikes in the Beit Lahia town project, north of the Gaza Strip.

Israeli artillery shelling also targeted the Saftawi area, northwest of Gaza City.

In another development, CNN quoted UNRWA as saying, "One of our trucks was directly hit by an Israeli missile, killing one of our employees."

She added that the aid worker's brother was also killed in the Israeli raid on the UN truck.
