South Africa to present new evidence of Israeli genocide in Gaza
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced his country's intention to present new evidence in the genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice.
He added in a statement today, Monday, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Israeli genocide in Gaza, that they will present new evidence to the International Court during the current October.
He stressed that the memorandum that his country will submit to the "International Justice" contains "detailed evidence" proving that Israel committed genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza.
Ramaphosa called on Israel to implement the interim measures decisions issued by the International Court of Justice in January, March, and May 2024 in the same case.
On 26 January 2024, the International Court of Justice ordered provisional measures in the case brought by South Africa against Israel for violating the Genocide Convention.
It is noteworthy that at the end of December 2023, South Africa filed a lawsuit against Israel before the International Court of Justice on the grounds that it violated the 1948 United Nations Convention on the Prevention of Genocide.
