Israel escalates its repressive measures and abuses citizens in the old city of Hebron
Today, Wednesday, the Israeli occupation forces escalated their repressive measures against citizens, abused a number of them, and imposed a curfew on several neighborhoods in the Old City of Hebron.
Activist Aref Jaber told WAFA that the occupation forces imposed a 24-hour curfew on the Jaber, Salaymeh and Wadi al-Hussein neighborhoods east of the Ibrahimi Mosque. The occupation soldiers informed the citizens that this measure would continue until next Sunday, until the end of the Jewish holidays.
The occupation forces also abused a number of young men, arresting and searching them, assaulting them, and detaining them for long hours.
More than two months ago, the occupation forces completely isolated the three neighborhoods (Salaima, Jaber, and Wadi Al-Hussein) from the rest of the southern parts of the city of Hebron, and closed the entrances and exits of those neighborhoods that connect them to the rest of the city with barbed wire.
It is worth noting that more than 750 Palestinian families in the old city of Hebron are living in harsh and difficult living conditions, as a result of the series of escalating repressive and racist measures imposed by the Israeli occupation forces, in addition to the ongoing attacks by settlers on them.
Since October 7, 2023, approximately 11 neighborhoods in the Old City have been subject to an evening curfew, preventing citizens from leaving their homes, in addition to the daily abuse to which citizens are subjected by occupation soldiers and groups of armed settlers.
