The statistics stated in a statement issued today, Tuesday, on the occasion of the International Day of Older Persons, that 6% of the population in the West Bank are elderly, compared to 5% in the Gaza Strip.

He pointed out that there is an expected increase in the number of elderly people in Palestine during the coming years, but he expects their percentage to remain low and stable, as it will not exceed 6% during the years of the current decade, and it is likely that this percentage will begin to rise after the middle of the next decade.

7% of the dead victims of the aggression on the Gaza Strip are elderly

The statistics pointed out that since the beginning of the occupation's aggression on the Gaza Strip, more than 41 thousand citizens have been martyred, which constitutes 1.8% of the total population of the Strip, including about 7% of the elderly, and several thousand citizens have left the Strip since the beginning of the aggression.

The number of victims who died as a result of the famine reached 36 citizens, while there are about 3,500 children at risk of death due to malnutrition and lack of food, while the number of wounded reached more than 100 thousand wounded, 70% of whom are women and children, in addition to about 10 thousand missing.
