Netanyahu and the Iranian barrier in the West Bank

The broad campaign that Israel is carrying out in the West Bank, which was initially concentrated in the north, and there is nothing to prevent it from extending to include the entire West Bank, there is nothing new in this campaign, except its connection to the war on Gaza, and its objective connection to the flare-ups that are taking place in more than one arena.

The West Bank and Jerusalem, its heart, arteries and veins, are the arena of the basic conflict between the incomplete Israeli project and the Palestinian destiny, the basis of which is the establishment of an independent state on Palestinian lands. Destiny remains incomplete if it is not based on everything that was occupied in the world since 1967, and if it does not include a solution to the refugee issue in accordance with international resolutions.

The subjective and objective qualifications for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state were completed on its land with the presence of a people qualified to obtain its independence, and with comprehensive international support, most of which recognized it in advance, and some of which recognize the right of its people to it. Even in Israel, there are influential forces that do not see a way out for the Hebrew state from its predicaments except by recognizing the establishment of the Palestinian state.

Israeli officials who have taken turns in power according to the parliamentary majority realize this, but they do not agree on how to achieve or cancel what they realize. Despite everyone’s feeling of the impasse that is based on not ending the Palestinian issue through liquidation or solution, the internal situation in Israel, which is the basis of decisions in all directions, continues to produce a sterile policy in which there is no room for agreement on any solution. This automatically means being dragged behind policies designed by the right, and everyone runs after it in implementing them, albeit under different covers.

The man who personally and authoritatively lives off this situation is Benjamin Netanyahu, who aspires to be described as the man who ended the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state. What he talks about as absolute victory is not capturing or killing Sinwar, nor destroying Gaza and harming the West Bank as much as he can, but killing the Palestinian state first and last. In the West Bank, he decides its fate, and he also decides the fate of the entire issue.

Netanyahu does not lack knowledge of the facts that made the Palestinian state the subject of a global consensus on the inevitability of its establishment as a fundamental pillar for the stability of the Middle East, including international interests that cannot tolerate the flare-ups that often stand on the brink of a regional or even international war. He also knows that the people he is fighting on all Palestinian geography from Rafah to Jerusalem, and everywhere in the West Bank, are qualified people in every respect, building their lives with what they can to free them from the clutches of his brutal occupation, and establishing the infrastructure for their future state, in a way that makes Netanyahu’s dream of swallowing the West Bank an impossible matter. This is what led him to lose his arguments to prevent its establishment, to finally and permanently resort to the Iranian veil, behind which he found no other place to hide, while he opposes the entire world on the issue of the establishment of the Palestinian state.

The Iranian barrier is in fact illogical, unrealistic, and ineffective in the Israeli predicament that is essentially the result of the occupation, which preceded the birth of the Islamic Republic by many years, and was also preceded by the national resistance that the Palestinians established on their occupied land, and which resulted in their cause assuming its rightful place on the regional and global levels.

There is no denying the Iranian role in the region, its agendas and arms that stem from the aspiration to achieve imperial status, fueled by a special reading of ancient history, and led by a tendency towards extremely difficult influence that the Iranian state adheres to, no matter how much it costs, and no matter how much evidence increases of its futility. However, this role, even if it seems strong in the field of negative influence, will not have an actual presence in the form and content of the future Palestinian state, as it is a state for its people who yearn to live in its shadow, and they do not intend to belong to any party or agenda that seeks to employ it in its service.

The positive thing that crystallized despite Netanyahu’s cover... is that the world did not take his story seriously; because it is a fragile and fabricated cover, and in front of the whole world it is no longer suitable for Netanyahu to hide behind.
