The attack on the northern West Bank is a new and dangerous phase
The attack on the northern West Bank, which is expected to expand and deepen, is only a prelude to implementing the final and final vision of Netanyahu's Torah rabbinical government, a vision in which there is no recognition of the Palestinian people or sitting with them at a negotiating table that assumes equality, participation and equality. I believe that this is behind the Israelis in general. I believe that the Israelis are no longer interested in a political solution after everything that happened, and what happened was terrible and things cannot return to the way they were originally. Therefore, I believe that the Israelis have completely made up their minds, meaning that they are about to impose a security settlement on the Palestinian people and deal with them with an iron fist.
This means, among other things, reoccupation with all its ugliness, while benefiting from the experience of the first occupation. This time, Israel will try to rule from behind local, regional, or international committees or administrations, if it can. If it cannot, it is prepared to rule directly as well, or it can exercise the eternal role of occupation through the carrot and stick system, or discrimination between regions or families, or means of punishment and reward, and an attempt to create categories that benefit and others that are excluded. If we add to that the transformation of the place into a narrow and poor place with no work or services, then forced migration will be one of the solutions, and Israel seems prepared for all the worst scenarios in this regard.
The military campaign on the West Bank aims, among other things, to oppress Palestinian society, delay it, impoverish it, and push it into despair and frustration, and to tear it apart and drain its strength and motivations. It also aims to strike at political representation and national symbols.
The military campaign in the northern West Bank so far aims, among other things, to Israel's desire to continue the war at different rates, because Israel has not yet recovered what it lost after October 7. Israel has justified its campaign by saying that Iran is supplying militants in the West Bank with weapons via Jordan, a claim that is contradicted by various facts, from confiscating fertilizers and raiding iron lathes, to repeated thefts from Israeli army camps. However, Israel wants to make its campaign seem like a continuation of its war on the various fronts that it accuses Iran of being behind. Israel does not want to see its occupation, its ugliness, or what it is doing to the Palestinian people. Israel loves the game of blaming, reproach, and accusation for everything but itself.
This current military campaign has been wanted by Israel since the first moment of forming this government, as the decisive plan formulated by Smotrich has been ready since 2017, and this minister has been able to implement his plan or at least scattered parts of it, such as deepening settlement, legitimizing and feeding it, including integrating settlers belonging to outlaw groups into recognized legal bodies, including besieging the Palestinian Authority and delegitimizing it or demanding more concessions from it that America calls "modernization" or "renewal", and also expelling citizens from Area C, whose number has reached several thousand. This military campaign is now being implemented in a rolling manner. What was happening in secret or timidly, so that it becomes an overt government plan implemented by thousands of soldiers and hundreds of military vehicles, is a security and political investment in what happened in the Gaza Strip, as Israel aims to separate the Strip from the West Bank geographically, politically, security-wise and socially as well.
This military campaign in the northern West Bank comes after the destruction of the Gaza Strip, the martyrdom of more than forty thousand Palestinians, after the Israeli Knesset voted not to recognize the Palestinian state, after voting that UNRWA is an organization that supports terrorism, and after Israel was able to ignore and neglect all global demands and all international resolutions on the necessity of a ceasefire. This means that Israel, which completely ignores everything, is continuing to smash all pots and pans, reject all settlements and fight all parties, even its allies who show unprecedented weakness in the face of its madness and arrogance. The military campaign in the northern West Bank may end in a few days, but it is certainly a strong and clear message that Israel has completely abandoned the idea of a political settlement with the Palestinian people, which portends strong dangers for the entire region.
This rolling attack on the northern West Bank heralds a new phase that differs from previous phases only in madness and arrogance, which proves that Israel is continuing to lose everything, and we are not the only ones saying that. Israel is losing direction in action and words.
Israel, which completely ignores everything, continues to smash all the pots and pans, rejects all settlements and fights all parties, even its allies, who show unprecedented weakness in the face of its madness and arrogance.
