Invasion of the West Bank: Between the Despair of Repression, the Media Game, and the Rehabilitation of Wolves
Let us start with the invasion of the camps and cities in the northern West Bank, which recreate the scenes of Gaza and fulfill the Israeli terror theory, or let us start with the roads that connect the West Bank governorates, which were safe, we used to walk them; we would go and come back, without fearing anything! This was during the years of the first intifada and until the signing of "Oslo", and the extremist settlers, who occupied the mountaintops, and expressed, with precision and skill, that they were drawing lessons, and confirmed that the "Massada phobia" was still in them, these settlers did not dare to pass with their vehicles and cars, on those roads. Today, during these events and before them, the equation has been turned upside down 180 degrees. The settlers are now safe and secure, and we are the ones who fear passing through or crossing it, until the prison has been established. Apartheid, that is, the closure of cities, camps and villages by the Israeli occupation forces, has become a more brutal and racist separation than the apartheid of South Africa. Thus, Jenin or Tulkarm have surpassed Soweto, and the African Mandela has become thousands upon thousands in the Bastille of the occupation, which has been able, with great sadistic merit, to reproduce the most brutal forms of oppression on our skins, our souls, our homes and our fields.
In a sharp and decisive response, some quick armed operations came against all forms of the Israeli occupation under different circumstances, which makes these bloody and improvised protrusions into episodes that will not stop, and will continue and remain, unless the Palestinians obtain their minimum national rights represented by the state, sovereignty, Jerusalem as its capital, and the return of the refugees.
Although the political and media discourses issued by the Palestinians have agreed, relatively, on blessing the objectives of these operations, to some extent, no one has questioned these objectives, nor examined whether they "carry" the embryo of major, extended events and perhaps a new uprising! Or is it a field reaction that will continue in a spaced and individual manner, expressing the general state of frustration and despair coming from what the occupying state is doing in terms of holocausts, massacres and desecration of sanctities, and because of the inability and absence of the Palestinian national forces and factions?
There is a declared agreement among most of the people to bless these events, in light of the horrific open massacre, political closure, the failure of reconciliation, and the continuation of settlement and occupation oppression, which opens the way, emotionally, for this tangible manifestation of national unity. However, we are not yet certain that reconciliation will be manifested in support of this wild spirit that expresses itself in other ways and forms, because the conditions of reconciliation are linked to regional differences and to the partisan and personal interests of the Palestinian parties.
We notice two issues: the first is that some Palestinian factions have not fully decided to enter or to push their elements into the furnace of these armed manifestations, except in a verbal manner, for many reasons, while other factions announce their distant support and congratulations to the martyrs.
Perhaps the events revealed the weakness of three titles in the Palestinian arena: the first is the authority whose “lands” the Israeli occupation is violating - and will not stop, and will work to turn the image of life upside down in a terrifying and comprehensive manner - the second is the civil institutions and civil society, and the third is the Palestinian opposition forces, which have not proven that they have any vision or strategy, parallel to responding to the occupation strategy that wants to swallow the entire West Bank, and to its measures that are rushing and imposing a reality that establishes a new equation for the future. These factions have not, even theoretically, created the required answers to all the burning and painful questions, except for the painful absence of most of the unions, federations and elites, which played an honorable, deep, broad and advanced role in the previous uprisings.
As for the absence of the media or its dangerous vocabulary, this is what many are talking about, and I will not delve into its vast waters! Although this absence leads to the dominance of the other's position regionally and globally, and spreads black rumors among us, and poses a great danger as a psychological war waged against us, in light of the absence of correct information based on data and facts, and in a clear language. I do not mean here the local media, but the media that must address the world in its language and modern methods. In other words, the occupation that claims that there are "armed Palestinian battalions in Jenin, Tubas, or Tulkarm camp" is throwing dust in the eyes, and giving itself a justification for this bloody invasion, as if there are two armies fighting on the ground! This is not true.. So I hope that some satellite channels will investigate the accuracy, and not pour oil on the fire, and give the occupation a pretext for its atrocities.
Perhaps the brave youth and boys, without exaggeration, are the force leading the reaction, although the Israeli occupation tried to lure and strike the youth movement, without a violent or indirect method. But: Do these protrusions and lone wolves have the ability to penetrate and confront?
The valiant belonging, the firm belief, and the unique courage are what drive the Palestinian youth to employ their light automatic weapons to clash with the occupation soldiers and the settlements armed with thick barriers and deadly cannons, as a natural reaction to the blatant killing committed by the occupying state. No massacre in history has reached, in its ugliness, what this continuous occupation killing has reached, which is causing this large and precious number of martyrs and wounded, and whose bodies show what the bombs, missiles, and cannons do in terms of painful and terrifying representation in them, which in most cases has reached the point of cutting the body into pieces, or smashing the head, or grinding the limbs, or sifting the chest, or tearing the torso until it melts.
Here, a question arises that must be considered carefully, which is the extent to which these heroic young men are fully capable, sufficiently qualified, and knowledgeable about the conditions of weapons, how to use them, in terms of time and place, and aware of the weapons that his enemy possesses, the nature of their capabilities and potential, and familiar with the forms of guerrilla warfare and street warfare, etc., so that his agile weapon is effective and useful, and that every bullet in the occupied sites is not more like a "tribal squabble", a "show", or a "wedding squabble", and the result is a new and expensive number of corpses, torn flesh, and gnawed limbs, without any significant benefit!
I believe that there is a great and direct responsibility borne by the responsible agencies that let the reins loose, as well as the concerned institutions, organizations and factions in this regard, such that they must establish, in a binding manner, the controls that prevent enthusiasm and excitement that are not sufficient in such cases, on the path of establishing the necessary frameworks and plans to employ weapons scientifically, consciously, responsibly and with awareness, and that no one should be allowed to carry a weapon and fire bullets recklessly, without careful calculation, in the appropriate place and time.
A single bullet fired by an experienced and trained Palestinian, using modern and advanced weapon technology at the right time and from a specific angle, will certainly be better than firing a million free bullets in the air!
I believe that we, the Palestinians, have no choice but to continue to develop all possible forms of peaceful resistance until the end.
Accordingly, we must define our discourse and declare it clearly and unambiguously, and re-employ our cards and release and mobilize our disabled capabilities, and search for additional mechanisms, and develop effective and influential methods in our confrontation with the occupation and its bloody aggression, and we must all organize ourselves in the golden national system, in the hall that everyone is confronting the occupation, the authority, the factions and the masses, and we must stay away from everything that dampens our determination and our sacred drive, for no reason, except that the tongues of the occupying state’s officials have continued to confirm that its goal is to subjugate Palestine, its people and its factions, and to impose the Israeli vision on the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. So, are we wasting more time on what is not useful, while vital and fateful issues of extreme danger and importance await us?
...........
Perhaps the brave youth and boys, without exaggeration, are the force leading the reaction, although the Israeli occupation tried to lure and strike the youth movement, in a non-violent and indirect manner.
