Lebanon: Two killed in Israeli shelling of Tyre Harfa, Hezbollah targets Israeli sites

Two people were killed and another was injured on Friday in an Israeli airstrike targeting the town of Tyre Harfa in the Tyre district of southern Lebanon. Meanwhile, the Israeli army announced the killing of a "cell" of Hezbollah members in the town, and also bombed sites in southern Lebanon and the vicinity of several towns, claiming to be targeting Hezbollah sites.


The official Lebanese News Agency reported that "the enemy (Israeli) aircraft raided the town of Tyre Harfa in the western sector on Friday morning, and information indicated that two people were killed and another person was injured."


The Israeli army said in a statement that it "attacked and eliminated a cell that was planning to carry out shooting operations from Lebanese territory towards the territory of the State of Israel."


He added that "after eliminating the cell, gunfire was detected coming from the area of the attack, indicating that weapons and missiles were found there," he claimed, noting that "he attacked the Shebaa area in southern Lebanon with artillery fire."


The Israeli Army Radio reported that about 3 anti-tank missiles were fired at the Meron Air Base in Mount Jarmaq. The radio also quoted security officials confirming that the base was targeted and hit, noting that "no damage was caused to the air detection capabilities, and functional continuity was maintained."
