The Hill: The greatest threat facing Israel is time
The American magazine The Hill confirmed that boycott campaigns against Israel in the United States are gaining increasing momentum, amid a wave of assassinations carried out by the Israeli army, which is increasing tension in the Middle East and the possibility of renewed attacks by Iran and its allies.
The magazine pointed to a trend it described as "worrying" among younger Americans, who have become increasingly unsympathetic to Israel.
The magazine revealed that shortly after the attacks of October 7, a poll conducted by the Pew Research Center revealed that more than a third of Americans between the ages of 21 and 30 supported the Hamas attack, while citizens over the age of 65 were four times more supportive of American arms aid for Israeli operations in Gaza, compared to the aforementioned younger generation.
The magazine linked these trends to generational disparities in the memory of the Holocaust and historical context.
The Hill concluded by emphasizing that Israel today lives in “uncharted political waters,” and that younger Americans view it through the lens of social justice and within a broader framework of oppression and injustice.
The American website “Responsible Statecraft” published an article by writer Giorgio Cafiero last June, in which he spoke about the opinion of Americans from Generation Z regarding the unconditional American support for negative “Israel,” considering that this could change US policy.
A poll conducted by the American newspaper "Politico" last April showed that "only 15% of Generation Z said they were more sympathetic toward Israelis, compared to 40% of the baby boomers born between 1946 and 1964," and said that 24% of Generation Z saw this as a major issue that would influence their votes, compared to 11% of voters over the age of 65.
