Poll: 44% of Israelis support attacking Iran...and no confidence in Netanyahu...
44% of Israelis surveyed in a poll on the progress of the war believe that Israel must take direct military action against Iran under the current circumstances.
In contrast, the poll published by the Israeli Institute for National Security Studies showed that 53% of Israelis participating in the poll stress the need for Tel Aviv to take political steps to prevent escalation in the region into direct war.
61% said they are certain or believe that the Israeli army will win the war in the Gaza Strip, and 21% said they believe that the Israeli army will not achieve victory.
Only 8.5% said they are certain that the war's goals will be fully achieved, 36% said they believe that they will be largely achieved, and 32.5% said that the goals will be achieved to some extent. 11% said they believe that the war's goals will not be achieved at all.
A large percentage of Israelis believe that the assassinations of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh and Hezbollah leader Fuad Shukr did not improve the security situation in Israel, or even worsened it.
Thirty-eight percent of Israelis who participated in the poll said that the assassinations improved the security situation, while 34 percent believed that they neither improved nor worsened, and 20 percent responded that they worsened somewhat or greatly.
Some 24 percent of respondents believe that the assassinations improved the chances of reaching a deal to release the abductees, while 29 percent believe that they neither improved nor harmed the chances.
Some 48 percent of respondents are concerned about social tensions within Israel, while 37.5 percent are more concerned about external security threats.
70% of respondents said they trust the IDF, 17% said they trust the government, 29% said they trust the police, 75% said they trust the air force, and 56% said they trust the intelligence corps.
As for personalities, 26% expressed confidence in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and 45% expressed confidence in Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi.
