Galant: We will respond in a way we have not done in the past to Iran and its allies
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said on Sunday that Tel Aviv will respond "in a way it has not done in the past" to Iran and its allies in the region if their attack is unprecedented.
This came during a meeting between the Israeli Minister of Security and soldiers and officers at an army base in Tel Hashomer, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Security, which indicated that he "conducted a tour of the absorption process stations in the Israeli army."
Galant stated that "the basic situation that must be understood is that the State of Israel is fighting for its existence in a hostile environment," noting that "there were years in which this matter needed more explanation, and now there is no need to explain, because everyone understands."
He added: "We have been in a war that has been going on for ten months in seven different sectors, and the main key to maintaining security is the people."
“You are coming at a challenging time, you are enlisting at a very important time, and this applies to the entire war and especially these days, while our enemies threaten to hurt us in ways they have never hurt us before, and we hear these messages from Iran and from Hezbollah,” he told members of the army.
"I tell them, you have to know this: whoever harms us in a way that he has not done in the past will likely be hit in a way that we have not acted in the past, and the IDF has great capability," Galant added.
"I hope they do the math well and don't get to the point where they make us do things that will cause great damage and increase the chance of war on additional fronts," Galant continued, adding, "These are things we don't want, but we have to prepare for them and they may happen."
He said: "You and we have the right to defend ourselves by ourselves, and I hope that the work of the Israeli army will lead to achieving the goals and calm, but this is not certain; nothing is certain."
Galant stressed that "therefore, we must prepare, as if things are heading towards a more complicated reality. This is not our desire, but we must be prepared for it."
