Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah said that the Israeli occupation's goal of attacking the southern suburb of Beirut was to assassinate Commander Fouad Shukr, as the enemy announced.

Nasrallah added in a speech during the funeral of Fouad Shukr in the southern suburb of Beirut: "The Israeli occupation targeted a civilian residential building in Haret Hreik in the southern suburb, which led to the martyrdom of 7 people, including 3 women, 2 children, an Iranian martyr, Fouad Shukr, and dozens of wounded, most of them women and children, some of whom are still in hospitals."

He pointed out that "the enemy aimed through the crime to target the resistance environment to push it to weakness or fear with the aim of influencing the resistance and its escalation, while experience has proven that targeting and killing leaders has always led to an upward trend in the resistance, because this group of believers is a group that believes in God and is ready to sacrifice and belongs to a tremendous emotional legacy and the ability to endure."

He continued, "In the assassination of the martyr leader Ismail Haniyeh, this assassination pained us, and we feel sadness and tragedy when we lose loved ones and when women and children are assassinated because we are normal human beings."

He stressed that "targeting Fouad Shukr will increase Hezbollah's determination and resolve and will not change anything at all."

Nasrallah said: "The Israeli occupation gave a title to its aggression on the suburb. This aggression is, firstly, an attack on the suburb of Beirut, secondly, targeting civilian buildings and not a military base, thirdly, killing civilians, including women and children, and fourthly, targeting a senior leader in the resistance. The occupation claimed that the aggression is a reaction and spoke a few days ago about an Israeli reaction, and hypocritical countries intervened and spoke about the need to accept this aggression. But this aggression is part of the previous massacres from decades ago and is part of the Israeli-American war on the region and its peoples. However, the enemy is trying to mislead and say that what happened is a reaction to the Majdal Shams incident, and this is misleading and a lie."
