The new British Foreign Secretary calls for an "immediate ceasefire" in Gaza
New British Foreign Secretary David Lammy called for an "immediate ceasefire" in Gaza, in his first position after his appointment on Friday.
Lamy, who took over the foreign ministry after the Labor Party's victory in the legislative elections yesterday, Thursday, said that he "will work... to support an immediate ceasefire (in Gaza) and the release of the hostages."
He added: "I will do everything in my power to help (US President) Joe Biden reach a ceasefire."
The British Labor Party, led by Keir Starmer, achieved a landslide victory in the legislative elections on Thursday, ending 14 consecutive years of Conservative rule.
