Hebrew channel: The Israeli army may remain in Gaza for many months
A Hebrew channel revealed on Sunday that the option of the Israeli army remaining in the Gaza Strip is on the table, unless “another entity” is found that can manage the Strip.
The Hebrew Channel 11 quoted an Israeli official as saying: “The army will remain in the Gaza Strip unless it finds another entity that can manage it,” adding that in the absence of an entity that can manage the Strip, the army’s survival “could take many months.”
The Israeli security source, who preferred to remain anonymous, stated that “there must be an international entity or another entity (which he did not specify) to manage the daily life of the population in the Gaza Strip. Otherwise, the army will remain there, and this may require many months.”
In the past two weeks, Israeli officials have found more pretexts to talk about the occupation army remaining in Gaza.
Two weeks ago, Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper quoted high-level political sources, without revealing their identity, as saying that “stopping the war and withdrawing the army without an agreement will mean the impossibility of returning the prisoners.”
She added that the withdrawal “must be based on an agreement,” and estimated that it would take a “long time” until mechanisms emerge that would ensure that such an agreement is not violated.
The newspaper said that he was part of the prisoner negotiating team, without mentioning his name, and that “Hamas believes that with the end of the Rafah operations, the war will end,” adding, “I expect Hamas to become frustrated.”
He continued, "Israel will continue to manage the affairs of the Gaza Strip, and will continue to wage a strong and effective war," noting that "the army has prepared plans to continue military operations even after the end of the ground war in Rafah, and Israel will remain in Gaza."
The same source explained that after the end of the operations in Rafah, “the army will remain at full capacity and with large forces for the purpose of continuing the intensive military operations in the sector, and it has an executive action plan that will be unveiled later.”
It is noteworthy that the Minister of the Occupation Army, Yoav Galant, presented during his visit to Washington a plan to manage the Gaza Strip after the war, the details of which were unveiled yesterday, and which includes the deployment of international and Arab forces in the Strip, as a transitional phase until a local entity is found.
