Israeli Cabinet approves the legalization of 5 settlement outposts and the construction of thousands of units in the West Bank

Tonight, the Israeli Ministerial Council for Political and Security Affairs (Cabinet) approved the legalization of 5 settlement outposts in the West Bank, and advanced plans to build thousands of new settlement units throughout the West Bank.


This came according to what the Minister of Finance in the occupation government, Bezalel Smotrich, announced in a statement issued by him, in which he stated that these decisions come “in the wake of the activity of the Palestinian Authority in the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice at the United Nations, and the arrest warrants against senior Israeli officials and the pressure exerted by them.” For the unilateral recognition of the Palestinian state by various countries.”


The five settlement outposts “are located in strategic locations” in the West Bank: “Avitar” established on the lands of Nablus, “Sadi Ephraim” and “Givat Assaf” established on the lands of Ramallah and Al-Bireh, and “Haletz” on the lands located between Hebron and Bethlehem. , in addition to the “Adorim” settlement outpost established on the lands of Hebron, in addition to “issuing tenders for settlement construction, and inviting the Supreme Planning Directorate to meet and approve plans to build thousands of settlement housing units in the occupied West Bank.”


He also decided to “enforce the law against rampant construction in the Judean Desert,” and to enforce the law in Area B against “damage to heritage sites and environmental risks.”
