Macron calls on Abbas to reform the Palestinian Authority in preparation for recognizing the State of Palestine

French President Emmanuel Macron called on Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to reform the Palestinian Authority in preparation for recognizing the State of Palestine.

In addition, the Madrid, Dublin and Oslo recognition of the State of Palestine officially entered into force, a decision that angered the Israeli occupation entity.

Earlier, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albarez said that recognizing the State of Palestine is a historic step towards achieving justice for the Palestinian people.

The Spanish Prime Minister stressed that the adoption of the decision to recognize the State of Palestine is in line with UN resolutions and is not directed against any party.

He added that the only path to peace is the two-state solution, noting that Madrid will not recognize any change to the 1967 borders without an agreement between the Palestinians and the “Israelis.”

These three European countries - two of which are members of the European Union (Spain and Ireland) - aspire that their decision will encourage other countries to join them, and they believe that the step carries great symbolic importance.
