Sullivan informed Netanyahu of the details of the comprehensive deal with Saudi Arabia
White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan briefed Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu on Sunday evening on progress in talks between the United States and Saudi Arabia on a comprehensive deal that may also include a normalization agreement with Israel. This is how the news came from the White House.
The White House said in a statement: “Sullivan informed Netanyahu and his advisors of the possibility that this step would benefit both Israel and the Palestinians.
During Sullivan's visit to Israel, a discussion took place between teams from both sides regarding the operation in Rafah, with the White House stating that they discussed ways to defeat Hamas while minimizing harm to civilians.
Sullivan stressed once again President Biden's position opposing a military operation in Rafah that will not guarantee protection for the citizens still in the city and will not allow for the provision of adequate humanitarian aid to those evacuated from it.
The White House reported that Sullivan suggested to the Israeli side ways to increase the amount of humanitarian aid entering Gaza, streamline the distribution of aid throughout the Strip, as well as increase coordination in order to prevent harm to aid workers.
Sullivan also stressed during his talks that Israel must link its military operations to a political strategy that ensures the continued defeat of Hamas, the release of the kidnapped people, and a better future for the Gaza Strip.
