The number of Palestinian detainees has increased to 8,080 since October 7
Today, Saturday, the number of Palestinians arrested by the Israeli army in the West Bank rose to 8,080 since October 7, 2023, after 45 Palestinians were arrested on Friday and Saturday.
This came in a joint statement issued by the Commission for Ex-Prisoners’ Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club.
The statement said, "Yesterday, Friday, and today, Saturday, the Israeli forces arrested at least 45 citizens from the West Bank, including three women, in addition to former prisoners."
Thus, the total number of arrests after October 7 rose to about 8,080, “including those who were arrested from homes, through military checkpoints, those who were forced to surrender themselves under pressure, and those who were held hostage,” according to the statement.
The authority and the club said that the arrests were concentrated in the city of Jerusalem after the worshipers left the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and celebrated Laylat al-Qadr, while the rest of the arrests were distributed among the governorates of Hebron, Jenin, Nablus, Tubas, Tulkarm, Ramallah, and Jericho.
The two institutions reported "severe beatings, threats against detainees and their families, and vandalism and destruction of citizens' homes" during the arrest operations.
Since the start of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, the army has escalated its operations in the West Bank, leaving 459 killed and about 4,750 wounded, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
