The Israeli army conducts a surprise military maneuver

Today, Thursday, the Israeli army conducted a “surprise” military maneuver to test the readiness of its forces and apparatus for the outbreak of a comprehensive war on the country’s northern front, according to Hebrew media.

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority said that the maneuver “was carried out suddenly, as its aim was to enhance the readiness of the Israeli army for various scenarios on the northern front” with Lebanon.

It added that the maneuver was "multi-weapon" and was conducted through the Army's Operations Division.

According to the broadcasting authority, the training included military commands and wings, as well as the General Staff.

The Israeli army organized this sudden maneuver against the backdrop of escalating confrontations with Hezbollah, as well as the complaints of soldiers serving in the north of the country about the lack of protection available to them when firing from Lebanon, according to the same source.

On Wednesday, the Israeli army hinted that reaching a prisoner exchange deal with the Hamas movement might lead to an agreement with Lebanon as well, according to the Hebrew newspaper Haaretz.

On a daily basis, the border between Israel and southern Lebanon witnesses an exchange of fire in a number of areas, the latest of which was the Israeli army monitoring, earlier Thursday, a barrage of rockets launched from southern Lebanon towards the border settlements in the north of the country.
