France and Germany demand an "independent investigation" into the "flour massacre" in Gaza

The Foreign Ministers of France, Stephane Ségournet, and Germany, Annalena Baerbock, called for the opening of an independent investigation into the killing of more than 115 people during Israeli shooting during the distribution of aid in the northern Gaza Strip.

Sigournet said on France Inter radio today, Friday: “I would like to be very clear today. We ask for clarifications, and an independent investigation will have to be conducted to determine what happened,” stressing that there is no “double standard” in France’s reactions.

The French Foreign Minister stressed: “France says things as they are. It says it when Hamas should be described as a terrorist movement. But it must also say it when atrocities occur in Gaza.” He stressed that if an investigation concluded that war crimes had occurred, then "the matter should, of course, be decided by the judiciary."

Baerbock wrote on her account on the “X” platform: “People wanted to get relief supplies for themselves and their families and found themselves dead. The reports coming from Gaza shocked me. The Israeli army must fully explain how the mass panic and shooting occurred. I offer my condolences to the families of the victims.”

She pointed out that “in Gaza, people are closer to death than to life. There is a need for more humanitarian aid to arrive immediately,” stressing the need for a ceasefire “so that the hostages are released from the hands of Hamas and no more people die in Gaza. Help safely."

The French Foreign Minister's statements came in the wake of the "Rashid massacre" committed by the Israeli army yesterday, Thursday, against Palestinians who were waiting for humanitarian aid trucks at the Nabulsi roundabout near Rashid Street, northwest of Gaza, which resulted in the death of more than 110 people and the injury of hundreds.
