Macron expresses his “strongest” condemnation of the Gaza massacre... and demands “justice” for the victims

French President Emmanuel Macron expressed, at dawn on Friday, the “strongest condemnation” of the killing of dozens of Palestinians during the distribution of humanitarian aid in the northern Gaza Strip, demanding that the truth of what happened be clarified and justice be achieved for the victims.

Macron said in a post on the “X” social media platform: “Deep indignation at the images coming from Gaza, where civilians were targeted by Israeli soldiers. “I express my strongest condemnation of these shootings and demand truth, justice and respect for international law.”

He added: “The situation in Gaza is horrific. The entire civilian population must be protected. A ceasefire should be implemented immediately to allow the distribution of humanitarian aid.”

The French President's position came after more than 110 Palestinians were killed during their gathering at dawn on Thursday in an attempt to obtain aid in northern Gaza.

The Gaza Ministry of Health said that 112 Palestinians were killed and 760 others were injured when a crowd of people rushed to a food aid convoy in Gaza City.

Hamas accused the Israeli army of opening fire on the crowd, while Israel acknowledged that “limited shooting” had occurred by soldiers who felt “threatened,” but suggested that the majority of the dead had fallen as a result of the stampede.

For its part, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered what happened “unforgivable.”

The ministry said in a statement: “France is deeply concerned about the reports

According to which a very large number of Palestinian civilian casualties occurred during the distribution of humanitarian aid in Gaza, and that Israeli soldiers shooting civilians trying to reach food supplies is unforgivable.

The ministry went on to say that it was waiting for “all the facts to emerge,” but stressed that “Israel has a responsibility to adhere to the rules of international law and protect the distribution of humanitarian aid to the civilian population.”

The French Foreign Ministry said that the “tragic event” confirms the urgent need for an immediate and permanent ceasefire.
