Israel: There is important and deliberate progress in the negotiations with Hamas

Informed Israeli sources estimated that in the end there would be a prisoner exchange agreement. According to expectations, it may happen within a few days.

While they are waiting in Israel for Hamas' answer regarding the principles proposed by the mediators at the second Paris summit, Israeli political officials said that "there is small, deliberate and important progress."

According to the same sources for the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, “There are still a few gaps that require flexibility on both sides, as well as Hamas’ answers. The most important thing is the issue of resolving the issue of the number of prisoners in the various categories.”

These statements come after the head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, said earlier that his movement is showing flexibility in negotiating a deal with Israel, but in return it is ready to continue fighting. Haniyeh said, "Any flexibility we show in the negotiations is out of concern for the blood of our people and an end to their pain."

The political sources in Israel also said, "We are now working on the numbers and the issue of deploying forces and a ceasefire. There are many items that must be closed. There are basic matters that have not yet been answered," and at the same time, work is being done and progress is being slow.

Meanwhile, the military cabinet will meet tomorrow to receive information regarding the progress of the negotiations.

While the Israeli delegation is still in Qatar, the date of its return to Israel has not yet been determined. The assessment of sources familiar with the matter is that there will eventually be an agreement, but there are still gaps that need to be filled.

At the second Paris Summit, Israel agreed to release 404 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the release of 40 Israeli prisoners according to different terms.

At a rate of ten security prisoners for every kidnapped person. According to the mediators’ proposal, which Hamas has not yet approved, the deal should include the release of seven women from the first kidnappers’ deal in exchange for 21 prisoners (three prisoners for each woman according to the previous deal).

In addition, 15 Israeli prisoners over the age of 50 will be released, compared to 90 Palestinian prisoners; 13 sick prisoners for every 156 Palestinian prisoners (12 prisoners for every sick abductee who will be released); And five female soldiers in exchange for the release of 90 Palestinian prisoners - including 15 high-ranking prisoners accused of killing two Israelis. Among the prisoners to be released are 47 prisoners from the Shalit deal who were re-arrested by Israel.

In Israel, they also agreed to a significant increase in humanitarian aid entering Gaza - 500 trucks per day. Israel will also allow the entry of 200,000 tents for temporary housing for residents, and 60,000 temporary homes.

Hospitals in Gaza will be allowed to be rehabilitated and the necessary equipment will be allowed to enter. Israel will also allow the entry of heavy equipment to remove rubble in the Strip. In Paris, Israel also agreed to stop collecting aerial intelligence over the Gaza Strip and allow a gradual return of residents to the northern Gaza Strip.
