West Bank: Israel continues to detain a pregnant woman for two days as a hostage
The Israeli forces continued to detain Mrs. Basil Khaled Abu Hamid (28 years old) from the city of Yatta, south of Hebron, who is in her fourth month of pregnancy. She was arrested from her home as a hostage two days ago, with the aim of pressuring her husband to surrender himself, who was later arrested after surrendering himself.
The Prisoner's Club explained that the Israeli authorities maintained the arrest of Abu Hamid despite the surrender of her husband, Bakr Nabil Abu Rajab, who is an ambulance driver in the Red Crescent, and his brother Musa, who is also an ambulance driver, was arrested.
According to the data available until yesterday, Israel transferred her to the so-called “Hasharon Prison Crossing,” which constituted a station for the abuse of Palestinian female prisoners, and this escalated after the aggression against Palestinian people on the seventh of October, according to the testimonies of many female prisoners, who were visited by lawyers and by female prisoners who were released.
The Prisoner's Club indicated, in a statement today, Saturday, that Israel continues to escalate the arrest of citizens as hostages, including women, which constitutes a crime in addition to the number of crimes and violations that have escalated in an unprecedented way since the beginning of the aggression, noting that Hebron Governorate, its towns and camps have witnessed wide arrest operations.
It is noteworthy that since the aggression on the Gaza Strip, cases of arrest in the West Bank have reached about (6,500), including more than (215) women, noting that the data regarding cases of arrest of women include women from the territories occupied in 1948, while Israel continued to detain 71 female prisoners.
The Prisoner's Club renewed its continuous and permanent demand for international human rights institutions to restore their necessary role and stop the escalating crimes against male and female prisoners in the occupation prisons, at a time when Israel continues to carry out the crime of genocide in Gaza.
