“Why the Al-Aqsa Flood?” A Hamas document recounting the events of October 7

The Hamas movement called on Sunday to “immediately stop the Israeli aggression” on the Gaza Strip, stop “crimes and genocide,” and work to open the crossings, lift the siege on the Gaza Strip, and bring in aid.

In a long, 18-page document entitled “This is our story... Why the Al-Aqsa Flood?”, which it distributed in Arabic and English, Hamas rejected “any international and Israeli projects that seek to determine the future of the Gaza Strip, in a way that is consistent with the standards of the occupation and ensures its continuation.”

Hamas stressed that "the Palestinian people have the ability and competence to decide their future for themselves," and "no one may impose guardianship over them."

The October 7 attack was a “necessary step”

Hamas also said in the document about the October 7 attack on Israel that Operation “Al-Aqsa Flood” was “a necessary step and a natural response” to confront Israel’s “plans” to “liquidate the Palestinian cause.”

Hamas described what Israel said about Hamas fighters targeting Israeli civilians as “pure slander and a lie,” adding, “Some disruption may have occurred... due to the complete and rapid collapse of the Israeli security and military system, and the occurrence of some chaos as a result of the widespread breaches in the separating fence.”
