Japan provides a new $64 million aid package to the Palestinian people

The Government of Japan decided to provide new aid to the Palestinian people, worth $64,025,500, through international organizations and Japanese non-governmental organizations, in response to the deteriorating humanitarian conditions, especially in the Gaza Strip.


The Japanese government explained, in a statement issued by its representative office in Palestine, today, Sunday, that this new package includes several areas of projects that will be implemented by relevant international organizations and Japanese non-governmental organizations.


She pointed out that the package includes urgent humanitarian assistance for food security, water and sanitation, health care, education, and mine action, through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), the World Food Program (WFP), the International Committee of the Red Cross, and the International Federation. of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the United Nations Mine Action Service, and the Japan Platform (JPF), a coalition of Japanese NGOs.


Part of the package will also be allocated to reproductive health and women's protection through the United Nations Population Fund, UN Women, and the International Planned Parenthood Federation.


The statement confirmed that part of the aid package will be allocated to facilitating the movement of people and goods across borders, through the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and the Quartet office, as well as supporting the agricultural sector and its value chain through the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization. and agriculture for the United Nations.
