Palestinian Statistics: 807 thousand Palestinians still reside in Gaza and North Gaza governorates


The Central Bureau of Statistics said that 807 thousand citizens still reside in the Gaza and North Gaza governorates, which include the communities of (Umm al-Nasr - the Bedouin village, Beit Lahia, Beit Hanoun, Jabalia and its camp, Beach Camp, Gaza City, Madinat al-Zahra, al-Mughraqa, and Juhr al-Dik. ), despite the brutality practiced by the Israeli occupation, including the killing of civilians and the destruction of residential buildings over the heads of their residents, and all civilian facilities such as hospitals, schools, places of worship, bakeries, facilities, etc.


The census added, in a statement today, Thursday, that the number of residents residing in the Gaza and North Gaza governorates as of the evening of 11/11/2023 was estimated at 807 thousand individuals, representing about 152 thousand families, out of 1.2 million Palestinians who resided in those governorates (including 448 thousand in North Gaza Governorate, and 754 thousand in the Gaza Governorate) on the eve of the occupation’s aggression against the Gaza Strip, meaning that about two-thirds of the population of the North Governorates still reside in the areas north of the Gaza Strip, while about a third of the population of the North Governorates, meaning approximately 400 thousand people, were displaced to the central and southern governorates. Gaza Strip (Deir al-Balah, Khan Yunis, Rafah), so that the number of people currently residing in the central and southern governorates of the Strip is 1.43 million people.


The census explained that it prepared estimates of the number of citizens residing in the Gaza and North Gaza governorates according to principles based on an actual data set that monitored the reality in the Gaza Strip before and during the aggression on the resistant Strip, using data from the Palestinian telecommunications companies and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the Palestinian Household Expenditure and Consumption Survey (for the three quarters). The first) from the year 2023, and the Household Survey on Information and Communications Technology (third quarter) from the year 2023, in addition to population projections.
