The Israeli army continued, on Tuesday, for the second consecutive day to prevent the movement of about 70,000 Palestinians from the villages northwest of occupied Jerusalem, following the ongoing closure of the only road leading to those villages, amid incursions and arrests.
This comes after a shooting incident on Monday, which resulted in the death of 6 Israelis and the injury of 30, including 3 in serious condition, according to Hebrew media.
The official Palestinian news agency reported that "the occupation forces continue to close the (Tunnel) road between the towns of Biddu and Al-Jib, which has hindered the movement of citizens and prevented them from entering or exiting, knowing that it is the only main road for nearly 70,000 citizens in the northwest area of occupied Jerusalem."
On Monday evening, the Israeli army stormed several towns northwest of occupied Jerusalem "and carried out raids and arrests accompanied by heavy firing of tear gas canisters."
The agency added that the Israeli forces "stormed the town of Qatna, arrested a number of young men after raiding a residential building, while they heavily fired tear gas and prevented ambulances from reaching one of the homes."
On Monday, the Israeli army imposed a tight security cordon northwest of Jerusalem and stormed several areas, following a shooting incident that resulted in the death of 6 Israelis and the injury of 30, including 3 in serious condition, 5 in moderate condition, and the rest with minor injuries or as a result of panic attacks.
Israeli Channel 14 reported that "the attackers come from the towns of Qatna and Al-Qubeiba northwest of Jerusalem, where the army imposed a cordon on the area."
In parallel, the Israeli army closed several military checkpoints connecting the city of Ramallah (central) with the villages located to the north and west of it, which prevented traffic and movement.
Wafa reported that "the occupation forces continue to completely close the Atara checkpoint north of Ramallah, while they set up a military checkpoint this morning, Tuesday, at the entrance of the town of Ein Sinya to the north, and detained dozens of vehicles leaving the city, which significantly hindered the movement of citizens."
The area has been experiencing severe traffic congestion at the entrance of Ein Sinya since the morning hours, amid the continued "arbitrary measures of the occupation" against the residents.
Alongside the genocide in Gaza, the Israeli army and settlers have escalated their attacks in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, resulting in the deaths of at least 1,020 Palestinians, and the injury of about 7,000 others, in addition to the arrest of more than 19,000.
Israel, with American support, is committing genocide in Gaza, which has left 64,522 dead and 163,096 injured among Palestinians, most of whom are children and women, and more than 9,000 missing, along with hundreds of thousands displaced, and famine that has killed 393 Palestinians, including 140 children.
The occupation continues to close the (Tunnel) road between the towns of Biddu and Al-Jib, which has hindered the movement of citizens.
