The government media office in the Gaza Strip announced on Monday that the number of dead journalists has risen to 238, following the death of the journalist Mohammed Khalidi as a result of the Israeli airstrike near Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City.
Khalidi, who worked with the Sahat platform, is the sixth journalist to be killed in a horrific massacre committed by the Israeli occupation through direct shelling of the journalists' tent in the area.
With this, Khalidi joins his colleagues who were killed in the previous airstrike, including Al Jazeera reporters Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qareqea, and photojournalists Ibrahim Zaher and Moamen Aliwa, along with their assistant Mohammed Nofal.
Palestinian Vice President Hussein Al-Sheikh condemned the killing of these journalists, calling for urgent action to hold the occupation accountable and stop its ongoing crimes.
Since the beginning of the Israeli genocide on October 7, 2023, reporters Al-Sharif and Qareqea have continued to cover the developments of the aggression on Gaza, despite the threats they faced.
Al-Sharif was subjected to extensive incitement campaigns by the occupation, as his home in Jabalia camp was bombed in December 2023, resulting in the martyrdom of his father.
The administration of Al-Sharif's page on the 'X' platform also published his will, which he wrote last April, reflecting his commitment to the Palestinian cause.
Israel continues to wage a genocide against Gaza with American support, resulting in the deaths of 61,430 Palestinians and injuring 153,213 others, most of whom are children and women.
The Israeli aggression has also led to the forced displacement of hundreds of thousands and a famine that claimed the lives of 217 people, including 100 children, amid the disregard for international calls to stop these crimes.
I advise you to remember Palestine, the jewel in the crown of Muslims.. I urge you to remember its oppressed children, do not forget Gaza and be bridges for liberation.
