The Palestinian Prisoners' Affairs Commission warned on Thursday of the danger of the Israeli occupation authorities continuing to prevent lawyers from visiting detainees.
She pointed out that this ban weakens the ability to monitor their health conditions, given the spread of diseases and epidemics and the repressive measures they are subjected to.
The Commission announced last Monday that the Israeli Prison Service had decided to cancel lawyer visits to detainees until further notice. This decision comes in light of the exceptional circumstances the detainees have been experiencing since the start of the genocide, exacerbating their isolation and escalating anxiety and risks to their fate.
This measure is an extension of the policy of total isolation practiced against detainees since the beginning of the genocide. Families are denied visits, the International Red Cross is also barred, and detainees are stripped of all their belongings, which would have enabled them to monitor events outside the prisons. This has forced them to live in the harshest and most intense isolation in years.
