US President Joe Biden said today (Sunday) that he discussed with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the need for Israel to act in accordance with the laws of war, adding that he still adheres to the two-state solution to the conflict.
According to what was reported by the Arab News Agency, Biden said on the “X” platform: “Israel has the right to defend itself. We must ensure that they have what they need to protect their people today and always,” he added, adding: “I discussed with Netanyahu the need for Israel to carry out its operations in accordance with the laws of war. “This means protecting civilians in the midst of fighting as much as possible.”
Biden continued: “We cannot ignore the humanity of the innocent Palestinians who only want to live in peace. That is why I reached an agreement to allow the entry of the first shipment of humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians in Gaza.”
The US President concluded his statement by saying: “We cannot abandon the two-state solution” to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
