Egypt condemns Netanyahu's statements regarding displacement from the Rafah crossing.. and his office retaliates.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Egypt "will never be a partner in liquidating the Palestinian cause or become a gateway for displacement, and this matter remains a red line that is non-negotiable."

This came in a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in response to remarks by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding his willingness to open the Rafah crossing from the Palestinian side under occupation, with the aim of evacuating Palestinians, claiming that it would be immediately closed from Egypt.

Egypt expressed its "deep disapproval of the statements attributed to Netanyahu regarding the displacement of Palestinians from their land, including through the Rafah crossing."

It reiterated its "condemnation and rejection of the displacement of the Palestinian people under any name, whether forcibly or voluntarily, from their land through the continued targeting of civilians, civilian infrastructure, and various aspects of life to force Palestinians to leave."

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry confirmed that "these practices constitute a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and amount to crimes of ethnic cleansing," urging the international community to "activate accountability mechanisms for these declared crimes."

It stated: "Egypt reaffirms that it will never be a partner in this injustice by liquidating the Palestinian cause or becoming a gateway for displacement, and this matter remains a red line that is non-negotiable."

The Foreign Ministry called in this regard for "confronting the state of chaos that Israel seeks to entrench in the region, a ceasefire in Gaza, and Israel's withdrawal from the sector."

For its part, Netanyahu's office responded to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry's statement, saying: "Contrary to what the Egyptian Foreign Ministry claimed, Prime Minister Netanyahu spoke about the freedom of choice for every person in determining their place of residence; this is a fundamental human right at all times, especially in times of war."

It added: "The Egyptian Foreign Ministry prefers to confine the residents of Gaza within it, even those who wish to leave the war zone, against their will."

Netanyahu claimed in an interview with the "Abu Ali Express" (Hebrew) channel on the Telegram platform that "there are various plans for how to rebuild Gaza, but half of the population wants to leave Gaza," claiming that "this is not mass expulsion."

He continued with his claims: "I can open the Rafah crossing for them, but it will be immediately closed from Egypt," asserting that "the right to leave Gaza is a fundamental right for every Palestinian."

He added: "Trump and I agree on almost everything, I would say on everything," without further details, except that Trump strongly supports Netanyahu's plans to displace Palestinians and has given him the green light to do so.

Palestinians affirm their adherence to their land and reject plans to displace them, amid warnings of American-Israeli moves to liquidate the Palestinian cause.

British MPs urge Starmer not to meet "Herzog" due to the genocide in Gaza.

The British newspaper "The Guardian" revealed that a number of Labour Party MPs urged Prime Minister Keir Starmer to refrain from meeting Israeli President Isaac Herzog, who is scheduled to visit Britain next week, amid the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza and the widespread anger it has caused within the party and British public opinion.

The newspaper stated that Herzog's anticipated visit on Wednesday and Thursday is the first by a senior Israeli official since Foreign Secretary David Lammy met his counterpart Gideon Sa'ar in an unannounced visit last spring.

It clarified that such visits usually involve meetings with senior ministers and the Prime Minister, but any meeting between Starmer and Herzog would be controversial within the Labour Party, especially with the escalation of the Israeli military campaign against Gaza.

According to "The Guardian," Downing Street has not yet confirmed whether Starmer will meet Herzog, while prominent MPs have called for avoiding any meeting that could be interpreted as support for "Israel" in its war.

Labour MP Sarah Champion stated that allowing Herzog to visit Britain is a "shocking decision," adding: "He is a representative of a government that kills Palestinian children daily, and this disregard for the plight of the Palestinian people contradicts the feelings of anger and disgust among the British."

Former Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell went further, saying that "Herzog should not be allowed to enter the country."

Labour MP Clive Lewis also urged the Prime Minister to exercise extreme caution, considering that "dialogue may be necessary, but merely meeting at this time sends a political message in itself."

Lewis pointed out that Herzog's previous statements about "the responsibility of all residents of Gaza for the October 7 attacks" legitimized the collective punishment practiced by the Israeli occupation, warning that such language could conflict with the Genocide Convention, according to international legal experts.

In contrast, Labour MP Emily Thornberry, chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, believed that the opportunity should be seized to communicate with Herzog, who is known for his distinct positions from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on some domestic issues.

She said: "We should ask the Israeli president: How do you see the future of Palestinians in Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza? If there is no realistic alternative plan, we must recognize a Palestinian state."

Thornberry emphasized that dialogue with Herzog may be easier than dealing with ministers from Netanyahu's far-right government, but she stressed the need for this to be accompanied by a firm British stance.

For his part, the Liberal Democrats' foreign affairs spokesperson, Callum Miller, called on Starmer to use the meeting – if it occurs – to send a clear message about the need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

These developments come as the British government, along with France, prepares to recognize the Palestinian state during this month's UN General Assembly meeting, while London has imposed sanctions on two hardline Israeli ministers.

"The Guardian" noted that Herzog, despite his symbolic position, sparked widespread controversy with his statements following the October 7, 2023 attacks, when he said that "all residents of Gaza are involved" in them, which the International Court of Justice later considered part of a discourse that could fall under the context of "genocide," as it called on the Israeli occupation in January 2024 to take immediate measures to protect Palestinians.

Herzog's visit comes at a sensitive time; the newspaper points out that Starmer praised last year the "historic friendship between Britain and Israel," but later adopted more critical positions regarding the war that has left over 65,000 dead in Gaza, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Hamas: Katz's announcement to escalate attacks on Gaza is an acknowledgment of intentions to destroy the city.

The "Hamas" movement considered on Friday that the announcement by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz to escalate military operations against the city of Gaza "represents a serious challenge to international law and an acknowledgment of the criminal intentions to destroy the city and displace its residents."

It stated in a statement that "the announcement by the terrorist Minister of War of the occupation, Katz, to escalate his criminal army's operations against the city of Gaza, after weeks of the brutal attack on the city, represents an unprecedented challenge to international laws and humanitarian norms."

It affirmed that the announcement is "a public acknowledgment of the criminal intentions to destroy a populated city and extort its residents under the threat of brutal massacres, while commencing the commission of genocide in the city, destroying its neighborhoods, and pressuring to forcibly displace its inhabitants."

Hamas added that "the targeting of the fascist occupation army of residential towers crowded with residents and displaced persons comes in the context of its criminal attempts to push the city's residents to migrate forcibly, which amounts to a crime against humanity."

It emphasized that "its false claims regarding the use of these buildings by the resistance are nothing but transparent excuses to pass its brutal crime and mislead global public opinion."

It pointed out that Katz's statements about "evacuating buildings" before bombing them "reveal a policy of systematic displacement under fire, and confirm that the occupation uses civilians as hostages to impose its conditions, in a political extortion that violates international law."

Hamas called on the international community, the United Nations Security Council, and international judicial institutions "to act immediately to stop the unleashed Zionist fascism, to rein in the war criminals of the occupation leaders, and to hold them accountable for their actions that threaten regional and international security and peace."

It demanded the imposition of "deterrent international sanctions, considering that targeting civilian buildings is a war crime even with warnings, and that the widespread destruction of civilian properties falls within international crimes."

It affirmed that "the attempts of war criminal Netanyahu and the pillars of his fascist government to escape forward, after nearly two years of starting the genocide against innocent civilians, by expanding the war and prolonging its duration, will bring them nothing but disgrace and failure, and more losses within their Nazi army."

Earlier on Friday, the Israeli Defense Minister threatened that "the gates of hell are now opening on Gaza, and the first notice to evacuate a high-rise building in the city of Gaza has been delivered before the attack."

Promising escalation, he said: "When the door is opened, it will not be closed, and the activity of the Israeli army will increase until Hamas accepts Israel's conditions to end the war (the Israeli genocide in Gaza), foremost of which is the release of all hostages, disarming them, otherwise they will be eliminated."

Shortly after Katz's statement, the Israeli army bombed the "Mushtaha Tower," a multi-story building west of Gaza City, home to hundreds of citizens and displaced persons, surrounded by a refugee camp.

The army announced in a statement that it will attack in the coming days what remains of buildings in Gaza City, especially multi-story ones, in preparation for expanding the military operation.

Katz's statements come despite Hamas agreeing on August 18 to a proposal from mediators regarding a partial ceasefire and prisoner exchange in Gaza, but Israel did not respond to the mediators, despite the terms matching a previous American proposal that Tel Aviv had accepted.

On Wednesday, "Hamas" renewed its readiness to conclude a comprehensive deal for the release of all Israeli prisoners in exchange for Palestinian prisoners, to end the war on Gaza, and to withdraw from the sector, but Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also rejected that in a statement from his office.

On August 8, the Israeli government approved a plan proposed by Netanyahu to gradually occupy the Gaza Strip entirely, starting with the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza City to the south, followed by encircling the city, and then carrying out additional incursions into residential gathering centers, according to the official Hebrew broadcasting authority.

With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in 64,300 dead and 162,005 injured Palestinians, most of whom are children and women, over 9,000 missing, hundreds of thousands displaced, and famine that has killed 376 Palestinians, including 134 children.

Qatari-European discussions in Doha regarding Gaza

The Qatari Foreign Ministry stated that Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani discussed, today Friday, in Doha with the European Union's foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, the situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories.

The ministry added, in a statement, that the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the necessity of regional and international efforts to reach an agreement for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman stressed the need for these efforts to ensure the protection of civilians, the release of detainees and prisoners, and the flow of humanitarian aid to address the catastrophic conditions in Gaza.

Qatar plays a key role in mediation efforts aimed at reaching an agreement to end the ongoing war on Gaza for nearly two years and to put an end to the suffering of more than two million Palestinians in the besieged enclave.

Last Tuesday, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari stated that Israel has not yet responded to the proposed agreement submitted by mediators last month regarding a ceasefire in Gaza, and called on the international community for a unified stance to stop Israel, especially with the increasing Israeli statements regarding imposing control over the occupied West Bank.

Israeli media: The Gaza blockade-breaking fleet presents us with an unprecedented challenge.

Israeli media highlighted the unprecedented challenges awaiting Tel Aviv in the coming days in light of the launch of boats and ships as part of the Freedom Fleet to break the blockade on the Gaza Strip.

Channel 12 Israeli emphasized the rapid movements off the Tunisian coast in North Africa, stating that it would be the second point of departure for the maritime fleet.

Maritime vessels are set to depart from Tunisian ports towards the capital Tunis, and then set sail from there with dozens of boats carrying hundreds of activists, some of whom have arrived from Indonesia and other countries.

According to the Israeli channel, this group will join another that departed from the Spanish city of Barcelona, determined to continue sailing towards the Gaza Strip.

Other boats have also departed from Italy, and boats from Greece may join to reach a total of 50 vessels and boats, an occurrence not seen before, even with the Turkish "Mavi Marmara" ship.

The Israeli media questioned how the army would deal with this unprecedented number of maritime boats planning to reach the shores of Gaza simultaneously.

Israeli media indicated that the army confirmed that the new boats would not break the blockade on Gaza, amid questions about whether the Israeli navy would intercept them in international waters.

It is worth noting that the Global Solidarity Fleet continues its journey in the Mediterranean Sea after about 20 ships departed last Sunday from the port of Barcelona, followed by another convoy from the port of Genoa in northwestern Italy early Monday.

These ships are expected to meet another convoy that will depart from Tunisia next Sunday, before continuing their journey towards Gaza in the coming days.

The fleet consists of the Freedom Fleet Coalition, the Global Gaza Movement, the Solidarity Convoy, and the Malaysian "Solidarity Nusantara" organization.

Gaza: UN experts urge the General Assembly to respond to famine and genocide.

United Nations experts called today, Friday, for an emergency meeting of the United Nations General Assembly. They issued an urgent appeal for the international community to take immediate action before September 17, the deadline for demanding an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestine, amid ongoing genocide and man-made famine in Gaza.

The experts stated that "silence and inaction are not options in the face of mass atrocities, and Israel must immediately end its obstruction of safe, effective, and dignified humanitarian aid." They considered that "lifting these restrictions alone will not be enough to save the besieged population of Gaza; what is urgently needed is an end to the Israeli blockade and an immediate declaration of a ceasefire."

They emphasized that "at this critical moment, the world needs the General Assembly as the highest body in the United Nations to take decisive leadership and act to prevent another disaster."

They noted that "the entire population of Gaza is facing the threat of famine under siege as the Israeli army advances towards the city of Gaza, which is overcrowded with more than a million displaced Palestinians, where the official confirmation of famine has been made by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), and the humanitarian emergency has reached unbearable dimensions."

They stated that "361 Palestinians have died due to malnutrition, including 130 children, with 13 of them, including 3 children, dying in the past 24 hours."

The experts added: "The horrors of starvation will increase if Israel does not stop, as half a million people in Gaza are already suffering from hunger."

They questioned, "Have the Israeli authorities become indifferent and insensitive to these numbers, and insensitive to the systematic violations of our collective moral and legal obligations?"

They considered that "the famine in Gaza, which has been deliberately orchestrated by Israel and contributed to its continuation, enabled by private and security entities, is an affront to humanity."

They stressed that "it is unacceptable and inappropriate to entrust a state responsible for creating genocidal conditions aimed at destroying Palestinians in Gaza as a group through starvation with controlling the access to humanitarian aid or its distribution or oversight, and that under international humanitarian law, occupying powers have binding obligations to ensure the survival of the populations under their control, which is precisely what Israel is not doing."

They affirmed that "the deliberate obstruction of food, water, medicine, shelter, and other relief materials, exacerbated by deadly attacks on civilians, including women and children, gathering at aid distribution points, and repeated forced displacement, has turned hunger into a weapon of war."

They demanded "the necessity of holding Israel accountable and not giving it more excuses to evade accountability," noting that "more than 2,000 Palestinians have been killed at distribution sites, 70% of them in areas of the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, in recent months, often in incidents involving random or targeted gunfire, and many Palestinians have forcibly disappeared from distribution sites."

They considered that "this reality shows that existing mechanisms have failed miserably, and reliance on the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation constitutes a gross violation of Article 59 of the Fourth Geneva Convention and involves international crimes, so the General Assembly must act without delay to stop the killing mechanism."

The experts called on the General Assembly to hold an emergency meeting to urge member states to act under the banner of "Uniting for Peace" in line with General Assembly Resolution 377, and to recommend a peace process.

They also demanded the opening of all crossings for the unrestricted access of humanitarian aid, under direct supervision of the United Nations, and the immediate suspension of the failed and dangerous mechanisms, including those that have led to widespread killings at aid distribution points.

They urged member states with ports in the Mediterranean to urgently deploy emergency naval vessels carrying humanitarian aid, as well as requesting a mandate for international humanitarian convoys led by the United Nations, granting them full authority to coordinate and oversee all crossings leading to Gaza.

The experts called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, the release of Palestinian detainees and hostages, noting that "the situation in Gaza is unbearable."

The experts emphasized that "the General Assembly must uphold the United Nations' duty to respect international humanitarian law and protect civilians, ensuring that life-saving aid reaches the people of Gaza without obstruction or delay; anything less makes the international community complicit in these grave violations."

Message to Netanyahu.. Palestinian media publishes a video recording of the detained "Israeli" Guy Dallal in Gaza.

Palestinian media showed a video clip of two Israelis held in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, in which they call for action to stop the war and reach a deal for the release of the captives.

The video is titled "Time is Running Out," and it features one of the captives inside a car driving through the destroyed buildings in Gaza City, directing a message in Hebrew to the occupying Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging him not to carry out the planned military attack to take control of the city.

The Israeli captive Guy Dlal said in the recording that he is still alive after 22 months of captivity, despite what he described as harsh conditions due to the escalation of Israeli bombardment and the lack of food, water, gas, and electricity under the ongoing siege.

Dlal added: "I and the other prisoners and two million citizens of the Strip face these difficulties every day."

Dlal sarcastically addressed Netanyahu, saying: "Thank you for finally allowing us to eat bread and some cheese and instant noodles... while your son is in Miami enjoying barbecued meats."

He continued: "We thought we were prisoners of Hamas, but the truth is we are prisoners of our government, of Netanyahu, Ben Gvir, and Smotrich who lie all the time and do not want us to return home."

Dlal expressed his fear about what he heard regarding the occupation army's readiness to launch a large-scale attack on Gaza City, saying: "I am terrified... this means we will die here."

At the end of the recording, he called on the people inside to protest and pressure Netanyahu's government, affirming: "This is a nightmare, and all of it is because of the government... this is our last chance to survive."

Bashar Bahbah reveals a "final offer" made by Washington to end the Gaza war.

The Palestinian-American businessman Bashar Bahbah, the unofficial mediator between Hamas and the U.S. administration for President Donald Trump, revealed the behind-the-scenes details of a Washington meeting held a few days ago regarding ending the war in Gaza.

Bahbah stated in television remarks that "the meeting lasted 6 hours, and it was decided to put one final offer on the table for the release of all prisoners in exchange for ending the war," noting that "he communicated with Hamas regarding this matter, and they showed some hesitation because they do not know if the talk is official or unofficial."

According to Bahbah's claims, Hamas was convinced that the talk was official after Trump's post, indicating that "Hamas's reaction was immediate in agreeing to conclude a comprehensive deal for the release of all prisoners and the release of a number of Palestinian prisoners, while simultaneously ending the war."

He continued, saying: "No one knows if the prisoners will be released and the Palestinian detainees will be freed before the announcement of the end of the war, or before Israel withdraws from the sector, or simultaneously with the ceasefire and withdrawal process over a period estimated in weeks."

Hamas had reiterated its confirmation that it is still waiting for a response from the Israeli occupation regarding the proposal presented by the mediators to the movement on August 18, which the movement and the Palestinian resistance agreed to.

The movement expressed in a press statement its readiness to go for a comprehensive deal under which all prisoners of the occupation held by the resistance would be released in exchange for an agreed number of Palestinian prisoners held by the occupation, as part of an agreement that ends the war on the Gaza Strip, the withdrawal of all occupation forces from the entire sector, and the opening of crossings to bring in all the needs of the sector and start the reconstruction process.

Hamas indicated its agreement to form an independent national administration of technocrats to manage all affairs of the Gaza Strip and to assume its responsibilities immediately in all areas.

This position came in response to Trump's latest call regarding the release of all Israeli prisoners, as he wrote on his page on the "Truth Social" platform: "Hamas must immediately return all twenty prisoners, not 2 or 5 or 7, and things will change quickly and end."

Explosive robots.. An Israeli weapon to erase Gaza and displace its people.

The Israeli army relies on a devastating method in the Gaza Strip, which involves the use of "explosive robots" that carry tons of explosive materials pushed into residential neighborhoods before being detonated remotely, resulting in the leveling of buildings and the displacement of residents.

These robots are old military vehicles rigged by the army with explosives, and this tactic first appeared in May 2024 during the incursion into the city of Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip, then it was used in Rafah to the south, and it is now being applied intensively in the heart of Gaza City.

According to the government media office in Gaza, the Israeli army has launched a "criminal" ground operation since August 13, during which more than 100 explosive robots were detonated, forcing thousands of citizens to evacuate, resulting in the deaths of 1,100 Palestinians and the injury of 6,008 others.

Osama Hamdan responds to Trump.. This is what Hamas wants

Hamdan added in statements that the movement will deal with any proposal seriously if presented to it, emphasizing that Hamas is not interested in hearing 'positive words,' but rather wants a clear political offer and practical measures 'to stop the aggression and ensure the withdrawal of the occupying forces.'

He stressed that Hamas will deal with any serious proposal presented to it 'if it includes what addresses the Palestinian demand clearly.' The Hamas leader explained that his movement had proposed early on a comprehensive deal that completely ends the aggression, under which the occupation would withdraw from all territories of the Gaza Strip in exchange for the release of Israeli prisoners for an agreed number of Palestinian prisoners, in addition to ending the blockade, opening the crossings, and starting reconstruction.

The occupation army approves an emergency plan to transfer troops to the occupied West Bank.

The Israeli army approved a "contingency plan" on Thursday that allows for the transfer of forces from other fronts to the occupied West Bank in the event of attacks during the current September, as part of the response to the annexation plan that the occupation intends to implement in the West Bank.

The Hebrew Channel 14 reported, citing unnamed sources, that the Minister of War of the occupation, Israel Katz, was the one who requested the preparation of the plan, which was approved by Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir.

The plan stipulated a "freeze on operations in the Gaza Strip and the movement of forces towards the West Bank if the latter experiences attacks, with the aim of controlling the situation."

The channel added that the security establishment considers this month to be sensitive, especially as it coincides with the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly, and the developments that may arise related to the recognition of a Palestinian state.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced on Wednesday the intention of the occupation to annex 82 percent of the area of the West Bank to its sovereignty, emphasizing the necessity of "preventing the establishment of a Palestinian state."

Earlier, the head of the occupation government, Benjamin Netanyahu, instructed his ministers not to talk about their efforts to annex the West Bank, and to "keep quiet" about the matter, for fear that U.S. President Donald Trump might withdraw his support for the step, according to Hebrew media.

The newspaper "Maariv" quoted informed Israeli sources as saying that the issue of imposing sovereignty over the West Bank "is being managed very quietly, without public statements."

It stated that Netanyahu "instructed the ministers to minimize discussion as much as possible" about imposing sovereignty over the West Bank.

It clarified: "The reason for this secrecy is that Israel fears Trump, despite being considered a friend of Israel, may retract his silent support that his administration recently provided for construction in the E1 area, and even opposes any step to impose Israeli sovereignty."

It continued: "In Israel, they understand that prioritizing with the U.S. administration places the issue of imposing sovereignty at the back, not at the forefront, certainly."

It added that "the United States is primarily required to provide support for Israel in the campaign against Gaza, and in its activities against Syria and Lebanon."

Last August, the far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced the approval of a settlement plan in the "E1" area that would separate Jerusalem from the West Bank.

According to Hebrew media, Smotrich's approval revives the "E1 project," which has been stalled for decades under international pressure, as it is considered a strategic barrier to the establishment of a Palestinian state, and means that Israel is pushing towards the annexation of the occupied West Bank.

"E1" is a settlement plan aimed at connecting occupied Jerusalem with a number of Israeli settlements located east of it in the West Bank, such as Ma'ale Adumim, by confiscating Palestinian lands in the area and establishing new settlements, preventing any potential Palestinian expansion.

The United States announced on Thursday the imposition of sanctions on three Palestinian human rights organizations that called on the International Criminal Court to pursue allegations of genocide against the Israeli occupation due to its war on the Gaza Strip, according to what was published on the U.S. Department of the Treasury's website.

The sanctions included the Palestinian Center for Human Rights and the Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights, both based in Gaza, as well as the Al-Haq organization, which is based in Ramallah.

Washington stated that these measures are part of what it described as "classifications related to the International Criminal Court."

Hebrew media: The Israeli army is preparing to evacuate the city of Gaza within days.

A special Hebrew channel reported on Thursday that the Israeli army is preparing to issue warnings to Palestinians to evacuate the city of Gaza "in the coming days," as part of Tel Aviv's plan to fully occupy the city.

This comes as part of the ongoing genocide that Israel has been carrying out against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip for nearly two years.

The channel '14' stated that the operation 'Gideon Vehicles 2' will include "a wide aerial fire campaign next week, followed by a ground operation aimed at achieving complete operational control over the city of Gaza and evacuating its residents."

On Wednesday, the Israeli army launched an aggression named 'Gideon Vehicles 2' to completely occupy the city of Gaza (north), which sparked criticism and protests in Israel, fearing for the lives of the captives and soldiers.

The channel '14' noted that the Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, Eyal Zamir, visited the Gaza perimeter on Wednesday and assessed the situation on the ground, confirming the continuation of operations.

Earlier on Thursday, reserve general in the Israeli army, Isaac Brik, described the plan to occupy the city of Gaza as "unattainable," warning that it would lead to "catastrophic results" and would not defeat Hamas.

Brik, a former commander of the armored division and former head of military colleges, stated that the plan was "imposed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the army, after strong opposition from Chief of Staff Zamir."

He mentioned in an article in the Hebrew newspaper 'Maariv' that "Zamir told the cabinet that it is a death trap for the army's soldiers and the captives," referring to the Israeli captives in Gaza.

Tel Aviv estimates that there are 48 Israeli captives in Gaza, 20 of whom are alive, while around 11,100 Palestinians are imprisoned in its jails suffering from torture, starvation, and medical neglect, with many reported dead, according to Palestinian and Israeli human rights and media reports.

On August 18, Hamas agreed to a proposal from mediators regarding a partial ceasefire and prisoner exchange in Gaza, but Israel did not respond to the mediators, despite the terms matching a previous proposal put forth by U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff, which Tel Aviv had agreed to.

Instead, Netanyahu is pushing for the occupation of the city of Gaza under the pretext of releasing the captives and defeating Hamas, amid significant skepticism about the feasibility of achieving this from opponents and former officials, and the Israeli army's confirmation that the operation poses a danger to the lives of the captives.

With U.S. support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in 64,231 deaths and 161,583 injuries, most of whom are children and women, along with thousands missing, hundreds of thousands displaced, and famine that has killed 370 Palestinians, including 131 children.

"Behind-the-scenes" contacts to resume negotiations between Hamas and Israel

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported today, Thursday, that sources say there are preliminary behind-the-scenes contacts aimed at resuming ceasefire negotiations between Israel and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).

The Jerusalem Post reported - citing two sources - that U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff is working behind the scenes to renew negotiations regarding a prisoner exchange deal.

It noted that mediators will try to ensure that the talks proceed at a faster pace than before if negotiations begin.

The Wall Street Journal also reported from Israeli officials that ministers and security officials are secretly urging Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu - who is wanted by the International Criminal Court for committing war crimes in Gaza - to conclude a ceasefire agreement.

For his part, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated, "We need to focus now on how to end the war in Gaza and eliminate Hamas."

Rubio conditioned the end of the war in Gaza on the movement's surrender and the release of prisoners, saying, "The war in Gaza could end tomorrow if Hamas surrenders and releases the hostages."

A Hamas delegation led by the movement's leader in Gaza, Khalil Hayya, also discussed today with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Doha the diplomatic communications aimed at stopping the war, including efforts made by Egypt and Qatar and actions taken by Hamas leadership, according to a statement from the movement.

Netanyahu's refusal It is noted that Netanyahu had rejected last Sunday a vote on a partial deal for the release of detainees during a meeting of the security cabinet that witnessed a heated debate, despite reports of pressure he faces to return to discussing the exchange deal.

The Israeli Channel 13 reported, citing sources, that the army expressed its support for an exchange agreement, but Netanyahu stated that there is currently no deal.

On August 18, Hamas agreed to a proposal from mediators regarding a partial deal, but Israel has not yet announced its position on it, despite the terms being almost identical to what it had previously agreed to, according to mediators.

The Israeli opposition and families of prisoners assert that Netanyahu imposes new demands each time that hinder the progress of negotiations, ensuring the continuation of the war to maintain his political future and avoid accountability.

With U.S. support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, resulting in 64,231 martyrs and 161,583 injured, most of whom are children and women, along with thousands missing, hundreds of thousands displaced, and famine that has killed 370 Palestinians, including 131 children.

Scotland raises the Palestinian flag at the Cabinet Office and calls for sanctions against the occupation.

The Scottish government raised the Palestinian flag over its official building in Edinburgh on Thursday, ahead of a speech by Prime Minister John Swinney, during which he called on the London government to take practical steps against the Israeli occupation, including imposing sanctions and halting military and trade cooperation with it, due to what he described as "the ongoing genocide in Gaza."

Swinney stated that the continuation of military cooperation between Britain and the Israeli occupation amid the war on Gaza represents "a blatant violation of international law," urging the British government to join the lawsuit filed by South Africa at the International Court of Justice against "Tel Aviv."

The Scottish Prime Minister added that his government has repeatedly urged London to recognize the Palestinian state within the 1967 borders, considering it "an inherent right of the Palestinian people, not a grant from the major powers." He also called for sanctions against Israeli officials involved in violations in Gaza, a ban on importing products from settlements in the West Bank, in addition to withdrawing from the free trade agreement with Tel Aviv.

Swinney emphasized that the situation in Gaza represents "a man-made humanitarian disaster," pointing to documented evidence of the commission of genocide, and stressing the necessity for Britain to comply with the arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court against Israeli officials.

The Scottish Prime Minister urged the London government to follow Ireland's lead in banning settlement goods, deeming these measures "necessary to protect international law and stop violations against the Palestinian people."

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation, with American support, has been conducting a genocide and forced displacement against the Gaza Strip, which has included killing, starvation, destruction, displacement, and detention, ignoring international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to cease.

The aggression has resulted in over 224,000 Palestinians being killed or injured, most of whom are women and children, along with more than 11,000 missing, while hundreds of thousands of displaced people are living in famine conditions that have claimed many lives, especially children, amid widespread destruction affecting most cities and areas of the strip.

Led by "Uriah's Force".. Settler groups carry out destruction operations in Gaza.

With the ongoing Israeli aggression that has lasted for nearly two years, the Gaza Strip is witnessing a large-scale demolition and destruction process that is no longer limited to direct military operations; rather, civil contracting companies and extremist settlement groups have entered the fray, recruited specifically for this task by the Israeli occupation army.

Sources revealed that the settlement group "Orya Force" is linked to a contracting company run by settler Betzalel Zini, the brother of the head of the internal security service "Shabak," and these groups operate independently outside of official military frameworks.

These groups aim to "level Gaza to the ground" using bulldozers and heavy equipment, with their members being recruited through social networks, and Palestinian citizens are often used as human shields, a practice prohibited under the laws of war.

The United Nations warns of running out of time to save citizens in southern Gaza.

The United Nations Special Rapporteur on Poverty and Human Rights, Olivier De Schutter, warned that time is running out to aid the hungry and sick in southern Gaza due to the humanitarian disaster faced by Gazans amid displacement, systematic starvation, and the spread of diseases.

The UN rapporteur expressed concern about the increasing famine in the coming weeks, especially in the areas of Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis in southern Gaza, amid the suffocating blockade imposed by the Israeli occupation to obstruct the delivery of humanitarian aid.

According to the United Nations, around 2,000 people have been targeted by the occupation while attempting to access humanitarian assistance.

Recently, the Israeli occupation forced the majority of the sector's residents to flee south, which adds to the suffering of Gazans who have been displaced multiple times since the war began.

It is worth noting that the United Nations announced on August 22 that famine has officially spread in the Gaza Strip as a result of the genocide being perpetrated by the Israeli occupation against the sector since October 2023.

For its part, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced the death of 3 people today alone due to starvation and malnutrition, raising the number of famine martyrs to 370 Palestinians, including 131 children.
