Saudi women reject the negative view of pole dancing

(AFP) - When Nada, a 28-year-old yoga instructor, started pole dancing a few years ago, the reaction in conservative Saudi society was very harsh, but she didn't stop.

For years, her family and friends have told her that this grueling sport, which requires physical strength and coordination of acrobatic movements on a pole, is "so wrong". Society often associates the sport of pole dancing with the dances that appear in Hollywood films in night strip clubs and in some dance performances that include sexual overtones.

However, despite the criticism and the negative view of this unpopular sport in the Arab world in general, the young Saudi woman continued her training in a sports hall in Riyadh, defying her critics.

And she says today that she believes that she has made progress in convincing them of the benefit of this sport, which also depends on the element of agility, at least among her friends.

"In the beginning, my friends said it was inappropriate and wrong. Now they say: we want to try it," she explains to AFP, preferring to use only her first name for fear of any negative reaction towards her.

For decades, Saudi women have suffered from strict social restrictions that limited their role in the labor market and their ability to practice a large number of sports, accompanied by the compulsory wearing of the black abaya and the veil.

However, the promotion of women's sports has recently begun to escalate as part of an unprecedented campaign to achieve social openness and change the Kingdom's image in the outside world from strict to soft, despite the continuous repression of activists and dissidents.

Last month, the Saudi women's football team played its first home match against Bhutan, and work is underway to launch the Women's Premier League.

Officials also aim to get more women involved in golf, a traditionally male-dominated sport that is popular locally.

And while changes are accelerating in the mostly young Saudi society, at least three gyms in Saudi Arabia have launched pole dancing courses, AFP noted.

"I feel that pole dancing (also called pole dancing) is getting more attention because it is something new that girls love to try," says Mai Al-Youssef, director of one of these halls in Riyadh.

A former pole dancer in Riyadh asserts that she was not "at all" ashamed of her experience, explaining, "This is my personality. I will not be ashamed (...) of my femininity. I am not ashamed of anything as long as I do not harm others."

But she acknowledged that others may not feel the same degree of comfort, noting that she agreed to talk about her experience to France Press, on condition of anonymity.

She pointed out that the only reason she stopped practicing this sport is that pole dancing is something that requires great physical effort, and it is more difficult than it appears on TV.
"I realized this is not for me. I need a lot of muscle and a lot of strength to be able to do this," she says.
As for Youssef, she hopes that the photos and videos that she publishes to her followers on the “Instagram” application will show the extent of the effort that it takes to dance on the pole.
According to the gym manager, her clients started talking about physical changes for the better after exercising, and that they "loved themselves more".

Updated | Eight dead in cargo plane crash in Greece

ATHENS - (AFP) - Serbian Defense Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic announced Sunday that all eight crew members of the Antonov cargo plane that crashed Saturday night near the town of Palaiochori Kavalas in northern Greece have died.

He explained that the plane was carrying about 11 tons of weapons, including luminous mortar mines, to Bangladesh.

Witnesses told the Athens News Agency that the plane was on fire and that they heard explosions.

Yorgos Arkhontopoulos, a resident of the area, told state TV station ERT that he sensed something was wrong as soon as he heard the sound of the plane's engine.

"At 22:45 I was surprised by the sound of the plane's engine. I went out and saw the plane on fire," he said.

Local officials said 15 firefighters and seven firefighting machinery were deployed to the crash site but were unable to approach due to the continuous explosions.

According to media reports, the cargo plane was heading from Serbia to Jordan and requested an emergency landing at the nearby Kavala Airport, but was unable to reach it.

The ERT station indicated that the plane was a Ukrainian Antonov. Local residents said it was on fire before it crashed.
There was no official information available about the number of people on board the still-burning plane, according to live footage broadcast on state television.

But ERT reported that the plane was carrying eight people and that its cargo was "dangerous". She stated that the police asked the journalists present at the site to wear masks.

One of the firefighters told reporters, "You should move away for your safety. There is information that the plane is carrying ammunition."
"The plane crashed about two kilometers from a populated area," Philippos Anastasiades, the mayor of the neighboring Bayeux municipality, told OpenTV.

After preying on 13 people... Indian police kill a tiger

New Delhi (AFP) - Indian wildlife authorities Thursday captured a tiger blamed for killing 13 people over a 10-month period, a local official said.

The five-year-old, dubbed the " conflict tiger " or CT-1, was calmed and captured about a week after officials declared him a threat to humans and authorized his capture.

The tiger has been attributed to killing 13 people in remote forest areas in western Maharashtra since last December, including two in one day.

The last victim of an attack attributed to the tiger was last month.

"The tiger was tracked for some time until it was finally caught inside the forest," Wildlife Authority official Kishore Mankar told AFP.

Mankar said all the victims were attacked inside the jungle area, where some were living or entering to collect firewood.

He said the tiger had been taken to nearby Nagpur district and was being monitored by veterinarians before a decision was taken on its future, with the possibility of being released or kept in captivity.

This tiger is not the only annoying one in India.

On Saturday, the police shot dead another tiger that killed nine people in the eastern state of Bihar, in a large operation involving two hundred people, including elephant grooms.

Students at a university in the central state of Madhya Pradesh have been told to stay indoors after dark, due to a tiger roaming around the campus.

Environmental activists attribute these cases to the rapid expansion of human settlements around forests and major wildlife routes, such as the habitats of elephants and tigers, which is a source of increasing clashes between humans and animals in some parts of India.

About 225 people were killed in tiger attacks between 2014 and 2019 in India, according to government data.

These statistics revealed that more than 200 tigers were killed by illegal poachers or by electrocution between 2012 and 2018.

India is home to about 70% of the world's tigers, with 2,967 tigers in the country in 2018.

Almost a million people have been affected by the floods in South Sudan

Nairobi (AFP) - The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs indicated on Tuesday that the death toll affected by the floods in South Sudan amounted to about 909 thousand people, twice more than the estimates published last month, in the midst of the rainy season.

The young country is suffering under the weight of four flood seasons, in a disaster affecting nine of the country's ten states, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs "OCHA".

A statement by the office indicated, "Reports indicate that the floods have led to the death of livestock and crop damage, washing away roads and bridges, destroying homes, schools and health facilities, and submerging wells and sewage, which has led to the pollution of water resources and the risk of an outbreak of water-borne diseases."

The oil-rich Unity state is one of the areas most affected by the floods, and rising water levels damaged dams in two areas on Sunday, threatening to flood camps for the displaced and a base for the United Nations Mission in South Sudan.

The office indicated that "efforts are being made around the clock to repair where needed and to monitor any weaknesses in anticipation of further damage."

In the state of Bahr El Ghazal in the west of the country, heavy rains caused the collapse of a major bridge, which prevented the necessary aid from reaching the communities, exacerbating their suffering. OCHA has stopped.

Previous estimates of the UN agency indicated that about 386,000 people were affected by the floods in seven states.

According to figures published by the World Bank in 2018, 80 percent of South Sudan's 11 million people live in "extreme poverty," and two-thirds of the people are threatened by famine.

Since independence from Sudan in 2011, South Sudan, one of the poorest countries in the world despite its large oil reserves, has witnessed civil war, natural disasters, hunger, ethnic violence and political conflicts.

A peace agreement was signed in 2018 based on the principle of power-sharing within a national unity government that was formed in February 2020 with Kiir as its president and Machar as his deputy, but no significant progress was made in terms of implementing its provisions.

The United Nations and the international community regularly accuse South Sudanese leaders of maintaining the status quo, stoking violence, suppressing political freedoms and embezzling public funds.

The start of pipeline tests in a disputed gas field between Israel and Lebanon

Jerusalem - (AFP) - The London-based energy company, Energean, began Sunday testing pipelines between Israeli territory and the Karish offshore gas field in the eastern Mediterranean, which is witnessing a dispute between the two enemy neighbors, the Hebrew state and Lebanon .

Israel has always confirmed that the entire Karish field falls within its exclusive maritime borders and that it is not subject to negotiation in the indirect maritime border talks with Lebanon, which are mediated by the United States.

In practice, the two countries are at war, and the last war Israel fought against Hezbollah, in 2006, lasted 34 days.

The company said Sunday that "after obtaining approval from the Israeli Ministry of Energy to start conducting certain tests, gas has started to flow from the shore" to the Karish floating production storage offloading platform.

According to Enerjian, which was granted the license to operate the field, the tests, which take several weeks, are an "important step" towards extracting gas from the Karish field.

For his part, a Lebanese source familiar with the negotiations said that the American mediator, Amos Hochstein, told the Lebanese authorities that what was happening was a "back test."

The source confirmed to AFP that "negotiations are still continuing," as Hochstein is holding continuous meetings with the two parties.
The source indicated that the Lebanese team will hold a meeting via video technology with the American mediator, on Sunday afternoon.

Negotiations between Lebanon and Israel began in 2020, then stopped in May 2021 due to differences over the size of the disputed area after Lebanon demanded to amend the map used by the United Nations during the talks, which it said was based on wrong estimates.

Since the beginning of June, developments related to the file have accelerated after a pause for months, following the arrival of a production and storage ship near the Karish field, in preparation for the start of gas extraction from it. Beirut considers that the field is located in a disputed area, while Israel says it is within its economic zone.

Washington, through mediator Amos Hochstein, presented a draft agreement to resolve the conflict to the Israeli and Lebanese sides, which included a set of proposals related to the demarcation of the southern maritime borders.

Israel had welcomed Hochstein's terms and said it would be subject to legal review, but gave no indication it was seeking substantive changes. Lebanon submitted its response to Washington's proposal on Tuesday.

Two days later, Israel rejected the Lebanese amendments to the draft agreement, which was attacked by opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu, threatening not to respect any possible agreement if he returned as prime minister after the legislative elections scheduled for November 1.

On Sunday, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz commented on Netanyahu's opposition, saying, "I have known Netanyahu for years. He will sign this (proposed) agreement from a security and strategic standpoint."

Gantz described what the opposition leader is doing as "manipulation," adding, "This is a good agreement for both sides."

For its part, the French Foreign Ministry confirmed on Saturday that Paris had "a clear contribution to the American mediation."

The terms of the American draft, which was leaked to the press, stipulate that the Karish field be completely subject to Israeli control in return for granting the Qana field to Lebanon, noting that part of it crosses the demarcation line separating the waters of the two countries.

The French company Total will obtain a license to produce gas from the Qana field, and Israel will receive its share of its revenues in the future.

For its part, Hezbollah had earlier warned Israel against taking any activity in Karish before an agreement on demarcating the maritime borders.
In response to Hezbollah's threats, Gantz stressed that "the Israeli army is ready for a possible escalation."

He added, "If Hezbollah makes this mistake and attacks Israel in any way, we will single out Lebanon."

A human rights center: an increase in the prices of goods in Gaza is offset by the worsening humanitarian conditions

Gaza - "Jerusalem" dot com - Al -Mezan Center for Human Rights said, on Wednesday, that the prices of goods and commodities in the Gaza Strip witnessed a remarkable increase, due to the impact of supply chains since the spread of the Corona pandemic, and continued to rise after the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, especially the prices of basic commodities. such as flour, rice, sugar, and cooking oils. On the other hand, the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is exacerbated by the Israeli violations and the suffocating blockade imposed by the occupation authorities for the 16th year in a row, which led to an economic collapse, undermined the basics of life, and weakened the resilience of the population of the Gaza Strip.

According to the center, the information indicates that the past months witnessed an increase in the prices of basic commodities, as the price of flour increased by (22.7%), sugar by (24.5%), red meat by (5.5%), and household gas by (11.1%). And gasoline by (7.5%), diesel by (12.7%), and the price of eggs increased by (27.2%), in addition to the increase in the price of vegetable oils.

The rise in prices comes in light of the spread of unemployment, poverty, and extreme poverty, as the data indicates that about (64%) of families in the Gaza Strip suffer from food insecurity.

Central Agency data showed that the poverty rate in the Gaza Strip amounted to (53.0%), and that about a third of the population of the Gaza Strip (33.7%) suffers from extreme poverty [3]. While unemployment rates rose to record (47%) among the labor force, and the percentage of wage employees in the private sector who receive a monthly wage less than the minimum wage reached (90%) in 2022.

In this context, the trader (A.L.), a resident of northern Gaza, said, "After the insane increase in the prices of goods, the purchasing power of customers has declined, so that it no longer allows the purchase of basic commodities and the payment of debts, and the sales rate decreased by 40% inside the store."

Trader M.A., one of the food importers, reported that there was a significant rise in the prices of basic commodities after the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, especially with regard to flour and sugar, which prompted some retailers not to pay the prices of the goods that we supply to them, because customers Especially low-income people, they have become more indebted, and the percentage of selling non-essential foodstuffs has decreased, prompting a large part of merchants to sell them with offers that may reach half of their price or less, because the expiration date is approaching, thus reducing the percentage of losses.

It should be noted that the military attacks that affected the infrastructure and civilian objects, especially industrial facilities and agricultural holdings, played a fundamental role in undermining the economic conditions and contributed to the loss of thousands of employees, workers and employers, their sources of income, to become poor.

According to a report issued by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OCHA[5]), the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip is the result of the absence of commitment to international humanitarian law and international human rights law, and the crises resulting from the presence of the Israeli military occupation for more than 55, and the crisis has been exacerbated by the compounding effect of the increased cost of goods due to the war in Ukraine and the slow recovery from the May 2021 escalation of hostilities.

According to the report, 58% of the population of the Gaza Strip is in need of humanitarian assistance, and a large percentage of families suffer from catastrophic or extremely difficult conditions.

Al-Mezan Center for Human Rights warned of the repercussions of the high prices of basic commodities on the population in the Gaza Strip, especially the vulnerable groups, which deprives them of enjoying their basic rights, especially economic, social and cultural, and contributes to the increase in the number of the poor, especially those who suffer from malnutrition and food insecurity, which may It undermines stability and security in the region.

The Center reiterated that the Israeli military occupation of the Palestinian territories and the continuous violations, especially targeting the economic, agricultural, industrial and commercial sectors by bombing and destruction, and the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip for about 16 years, constitute the main factor in the deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

Al Mezan Center for Human Rights called on the international community, especially the High Signatories to the Fourth Geneva Convention, to assume its legal and moral responsibilities, to take urgent action to protect the civilian population, to stop the continuous Israeli violations, and to end the blockade, as it is one of the most prominent forms of persecution and collective punishment that amounts to war crimes.

He also called on the Palestinian authorities to take urgent measures to address the problems of unemployment and poverty in the Palestinian territories in general, and the Gaza Strip in particular, and to consider tax deduction in a way that serves the improvement of living conditions, and to intervene to protect the vulnerable and poorest groups.

Al Mezan Center called on international institutions and relief organizations to increase their role in combating poverty, help bring about human and economic development, and develop programs and projects that contribute to economic empowerment, in order to effectively contribute to reducing the problem of poverty and its effects.

Indications of the armed phenomenon and the crisis of the Israeli and Palestinian leaderships

Written by: Jamal Zaqout
There is no doubt that the return of the conflict scene to the phenomenon of armed resistance reflects in a profound way the extent of the failure of the settlement project on which the leadership of the Palestine Liberation Organization bet, and in this bet it cast all the history and achievements of the Palestinian revolution, including the achievements of the great Palestinian people's uprising in 1987. Etisam also This phenomenon, in its supra-factional nature, shows the extent to which these resistance fighters have withdrawn from the components of the national movement, especially the two poles of the divisive scene, with what their struggle over the "absent legitimacy" caused. To the extent that each of them has acquired a single authority, they constitute two sides of the same coin to the crisis of the national movement stuck between the jaws of the state of division, and the strategic failure of their two projects due to their divergence from the popular will and the requirements of political participation, as seen by the overwhelming majority of the Palestinian people at this stage, including the people’s right to choose Free to lead it, in a way that enhances national unity with its popular character, and not the misery of the phenomena of exclusivity and exclusion that have dominated the public scene, given that the title and nature of the stage has not yet left, and since the establishment of the national authority, the stage of national liberation, despite the responsibilities brought about by that establishment during which the process of national liberation overlapped with The requirements of democratic building, foremost of which is the building of a competent national institution capable of providing the best services that enhance the steadfastness of the Palestinian people as they embark on the process of national liberation to win freedom and independence, given that the citizen, his status and his rights in citizenship are the largest and most important capital for the accomplishment of these overlapping tasks.

It is quite clear that both the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank and the Hamas authority in the Gaza Strip stand at an almost equal distance from this phenomenon, which in one of its dimensions provides an opposite answer to their positions and the state of failure from which they suffer, including the continuation of the bet on the relationship with Israel, whether Those related to security coordination in the West Bank, or Hamas' keenness to abide by the rules of calm in exchange for economic facilities that guarantee its survival in the Gaza Strip, and the possibility of allowing it to expand into the West Bank. The political system in Israel, all of which agree on excluding any political settlement with the Palestinians, which is the strategy that constitutes the core of the current and long-term political crisis of the entire Zionist project.

Oslo failure and Israel's coup against the settlement

Since Sharon stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque, which sparked the second Intifada, as an expression of the failure of the Oslo track, and Israel's complete reversal on this track, despite its vagueness, by returning to Menachem Begin's plan for curtailed self-rule, the content of the Allon project for a regional settlement in the West Bank, and the Palestinian leadership's dependence on the possibility of return Negotiations, or Hamas's belief that its control over the Gaza Strip and the adoption of what might be called its deterrence ability by possessing a "missile arsenal" is another side of the same coin that excludes popular will and participation, and the crisis of the national movement is deepening day after day, and with it the vacuum gap widens between the components of this movement and the various Popular groups, especially young ones. Without both the national authority and the Hamas authority resolutely ordering their rational exit from the circle of continued absurd unilateralism in the national destiny, and direct and indirect involvement in the game of engineering the formation of a “leadership” that is far from the requirements of national unity through inclusive national institutions, and through the ballot boxes, each of them will remain Stuck in the square drawn by the occupation government to further dismantle the national movement, and to facilitate the monopoly of those who control the national decision in an attempt to subdue them.

It is true that the current phenomenon of resistance daily garners more support and popular support, and its scope expands as the occupation government plunges into Palestinian blood. However, the basic message that this phenomenon carries, regardless of the extent of its ability to continue or Israel's ability to stop it, is that the will of the people The Palestinian and his refusal to submit to the Israeli liquidation schemes are capable of being renewed in different forms, and the struggle against the occupation has witnessed different and similar waves, whether with the public phenomenon of the persecuted in the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the seventies of the last century, until the outbreak of the great popular uprising in the second half of the eighties, and what is between them and what followed them. of successive upsurges and waves.

The crisis of the Zionist project

The essence of Israel's crisis and its Zionist project is represented in the arrogance of the excess of power, and the illusion of its political system with the possibility of cauterizing the consciousness of the Palestinian people to force them to surrender, and the competition of the various Zionist parties on how to prevent the Palestinian people from building their independent state as an essential component for exercising their right to self-determination. Such a strategy practiced by the successive governments of Israel will only lead to more resistance, and perhaps to a rush of conflict not only towards dismantling and ending the military and settlement occupation, but also to a joint struggle to defeat the racist character of the Zionist project, and to exercise the right of self-determination for the two peoples within the framework of one democratic state. It is clear that the treatment of the crisis of Zionist ideology is driven by its racist nature and the arrogance of the excess of the occupying power towards the second option.

Requirements for national and democratic change

The second message that the phenomenon of armed resistance sends to the Palestinian national movement is that the time has come for a change in the structure and strategies of the national movement's work, so that the Palestinian people will not remain captive to attempts to subjugate them to the game of "engineering their leadership" or warring its parties. This calls for the unity of the will of the Palestinians and the protection of their national interests and goals. , For a democratic change that rebuilds their unity within the framework of a comprehensive national movement and one representative institutions, and the question is who are the social forces qualified to carry out this great task and how?

This comes at a time when consumer prices in Turkey rose during the past month by 70% annually, which is significantly more than the target rate for the Turkish Central Bank, which is 14% annually.

To enjoy your trip... things to avoid while traveling

Berlin - (dpa) - There are more do's and don'ts while traveling abroad than one might know. In order to make sure that he enjoys his trip, one has to keep these tips in mind.

First: Confidence in the hotel safe of residence

One may be accustomed to putting his passport, money, tickets and other valuables in his possession, in the hotel safe to avoid losing them when he is abroad, or for fear of being stolen.

A German consumer advisory center warned in 2019 that the safes that are in hotel rooms often do not represent an obstacle to thieves, as they are usually installed in the wardrobe or on the wall using only screws, and thus can be easily removed from their place.

It is safer to use the safe at the hotel reception desk, where one can hand over their valuables, they will also get a receipt and their items will be fully secured, unlike what might happen when using the room safe.

Second: Make phone calls or download video clips on board

In the event that a person is on a ferry that takes him from Germany to Sweden or Norway, for example, he may not think much about the extent to which he can use his smartphone after the cancellation in 2017 of the fees imposed on the roaming feature associated with the use of smartphones within the European Union and some countries. other.

However, this applies only to terrestrial networks. Otherwise, passengers would not have a connection on their mobile phones when at sea, as mainline ferries usually have an onboard network of mobile phones connected to a satellite network.

Unfortunately, these ferry networks are very expensive and no upper costs are set.

Third: put everything inside the hand bag

Another important travel tip is that one should put important items in one's carry-on bag. In 2019, airlines around the world lost about 25.4 million pieces of baggage, or just over 5.5 bags per thousand passengers, according to information technology services company SITA.

This is not a cause for concern, as 99.5% of all lost items are found, according to data from the International Air Transport Association. But if one wants to avoid being among the remaining 0.5%, he should make sure that the straps for closing his bag are strong.

Fourth: One's lack of preparedness in case of emergency

One must make sure while he is in any country that he knows the emergency number that he has to call in case the need arises.

It is worth noting that just over 70 countries (two-thirds of them are in Europe) have a national emergency service that is always available.

Fifth: skip part of the trip

It seems strange that the cost of a ticket from Oslo to New York via Berlin is less than the cost of a ticket from Berlin to New York directly, without starting from Oslo. Should he really have to board the plane in Oslo, one might ask? And the answer is: "Yes." This is because if a person skips a part of the flight that was scheduled on his ticket, the airline may charge him a difference in price compared to the usual price.

Sixth: Lack of knowledge of local laws

Most travelers make an effort to make sure they comply with local laws, but sometimes that requires a little extra research. For example, if a person goes to Thailand, he should not put his foot on a local banknote because there is a picture of the country's king on it, which may expose him to a problem.

Seventh: Negligence regarding medicines

One has to think carefully before carrying medicines with him while traveling, as there are a lot of countries that follow strict laws regarding medicines. While there is a type of medicine common in Europe, for example, it is possible that the possession of a small amount of it is prohibited abroad and the matter may lead to the exposure of the holder to imprisonment.

Spain Championship: Real rises to the top with a difficult victory over Getafe

(AFP) - Real Madrid rose to the top of the Spanish Football League , with a difficult 1-0 victory at its host Getafe, with an early goal by Brazilian defender Eder Militao, in the eighth stage competitions, Saturday.

The royal club raised its score to 22 points, hoping that Celta Vigo would provide an unexpected service to its host Barcelona on Sunday.

And Real had settled for a 1-1 draw at home with Osasuna in the previous stage, opening the door for its Catalan rivals to take the lead at the end of last week for the first time in nearly two years, after its victory over Real Mallorca.

French striker Karim Benzema was absent from the ranks of the Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti's team due to a "muscle problem", noting that he missed a decisive penalty kick against Osasuna when he returned to the competitions after being absent for nearly a month due to injury.

He also participated in the 2-1 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the middle of the week in the Champions League, but he did not train with the team on Friday after a new setback.

The royal quickly opened the scoring with Militao's header in the third minute, after a corner was taken by Croatian Luka Modric.

The first half did not witness many chances, as Getafe did not hit any shots on the goal, while Real Madrid waited until the 39th minute to shoot again through the Brazilian Rodrigo, who was blocked by the goalkeeper.

The referee awarded a penalty kick in favor of the other Brazilian, Vinicius, after he was fouled, before canceling it after resorting to the video assistant referee “VAR” because the ball crossed the touchline in building the attack (43).

The Turkish Ennis Onal hit the three planks for the landowners for the first time with the start of the second half. It was easy in the hands of the Ukrainian goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, the Belgian substitute Thibaut Courtois, who still suffers from a sciatica injury (46), before also later expelling a powerful ball from Carles Alenia. And turned it into a corner (49).

The Frenchman, Aurelien Choameni, shot from inside the area, which was blocked by Getafe's goalkeeper (48).

And “VAR” canceled a goal by Rodrigo for sneaking into the area after a ball he received from Uruguayan Federico Valverde (57), who hit a powerful ball from outside the area, which was blocked by the goalkeeper (77).

Atletico Madrid recovered from its Continental loss in the middle of the week, by defeating Girona 2-1, with a double from Argentine Angel Correa.

The capital team advanced to fourth place, a point ahead of fifth Real Betis, who beat Valladolid on Sunday.

Atletico entered the match after falling 2-0 against Club Brugge in Belgium on Tuesday in the Champions League, to suffer its second continental defeat in exchange for one victory.

And the Rojiblanco achieved its second successive victory locally, after beating Seville 2-0 last week, after falling against Real Madrid two stages ago.

Frenchman Antoine Griezmann started after Barcelona coach Xavi confirmed that his club “told me that an agreement had been reached” to convert the striker’s loan into a permanent transfer, adding, “But it is not yet official. If there is an agreement, then this means that all parties are satisfied. I wish success.” to the player.”

Argentine coach Diego Simeone used the French most of the time from the bench, as Atletico tried to avoid activating the mandatory purchase clause in the initial deal.

Griezmann played a key role in Atletico's first goal after he lifted the ball, followed by Korea at the far post in the fifth minute.
Brazilian Mateusz Konya almost doubled the lead for the hosts, had it not been for goalkeeper Juan Carlos' save from close range.

However, Correa managed to do so with the start of the second half, after he cut a wrong pass from the goalkeeper to put the ball into the net (48).
Rodrigo Riquelme, who was loaned to Girona from Atletico in particular, narrowed the difference with a long shot that rebounded from the opponent to continue its way to the goal (65).

There were two clear chances for the guests to tie the score in an exciting end to the match, had it not been for the brilliance of Slovenian goalkeeper Jan Oblak, who saved Ales Garcia's far ball, before Uruguayan substitute Christian Stuani's header bounced off the post.

Argentine coach Jorge Sampaoli began his new mission at the head of the coaching staff of Seville, with a 1-1 draw at home to Athletic Bilbao III.

Sampaoli succeeded Spaniard Julen Lopetegui, who was sacked minutes after the resounding loss at home in the middle of the week 4-1 against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, it was his second continental match against a draw.
The Andalusian team, which always competes in advanced positions, also suffers locally, as it settled with Lopetegui with an orphan victory against four defeats and two draws in La Liga.
And at the Ramon Sanchez Pisjuan stadium, Oliver Torres opened the score for the hosts in the fourth minute, while Athletic snatched a tie a quarter of an hour before the end through Mikel Vesga (74).
Coach Ernesto Valverde's team raised its score to 16 points in third place, compared to five points for the seventeenth Seville.

Al-Sondas Mountain resists settlement with its loftiness and the clinging of its owners

Hebron - "Jerusalem" dot com - Jihad Al-Qawasmi - Yousry Al-Jamal voluntarily dismantled the fence of his land located on the summit of Mount Sindas , south of the city of Hebron, in the face of attempts to seize it, because of its strategic location, which made it the focus of the occupation and its settlers' ambitions openly, at the expense of the lands citizens and emptying the area, after notifying and threatening the occupation to remove it by force within 96 hours.

Less than two months later

Yamen al-Jamal, the son of the owner of the land, said that the notice of removing the fence around his father’s land that he bought from its original owners in 2001, which has an area of four and a half dunums, after it was a military point on which the occupation soldiers stationed to bomb the city during the Al-Aqsa Intifada, comes less than two months later. The occupation confiscated the contents of the land, after it reclaimed and rehabilitated it, transported the dust to it, surrounded it with walls and barbed wire, and planted its surroundings with trees, for the purpose of establishing a private park and an investment project on the land.

squander the dream

He pointed out that the occupation destroyed and dispelled his father's dream of establishing a project on the land to be a source of income for his family, when the occupation vandalized the park, under the pretext of establishing it without a license, and confiscated (12) plastic capsules (plastic bubble) in the form of domes made of metal fixed to the ground covered with transparent plastic. , for the visitor to use as rooms to rest in, as well as planting plants and flowers, and he also built external bathrooms of bricks, but the occupation asked him to self-demolish them, stressing that his father and the land owners did not stop defending the fever of the mountain, which the occupation aspires to smash and amputate from its geographical drive.

And between the camels, Jabal Al-Sondas enjoys a distinguished strategic location, as it overlooks from its height many surrounding areas, and the occupation places the eye on settlement on it, as it overlooks the so-called "Hagai" settlement, from the western side, about one kilometer away from it, and to the south. From Bypass Street No. (60).

Street transportation scheme

Al-Jamal explained that there is a Judaization scheme for land theft and plans to expand the Hagai settlement, at the expense of the lands and property of the citizens, indicating that the so-called Israeli Land Authority has begun to draw up a plan to move the bypass road between the Hagai settlement and Al-Harayek and change its route into the depth of the lands of the fires, with the intention soon to bulldoze it. Uprooting and vandalizing fruit trees for a bypass road that starts from Hagai roundabout, passing through fires and citizens' lands.

He pointed out that this road will penetrate the lands of the families of Damiri, Miteb, Al-Jabeh, Abu Sharkh, Al-Jamal, Abu Asneneh, Asfour and other families, in addition to many lands belonging to the people of Hebron, all the way to the right belly of Mount Sindas, until reaching the Qalqis Dam roundabout, which means vandalizing and confiscating hundreds of dunums unjustly to please the settlers and their extremists like Ben. Ghafir, Yehuda Glick, and other settler terrorists and their expansionist projects, which aim to Judaize the city of Hebron and its family.

Enticement and intimidation

Amidst al-Jamal’s insistence and adherence to the summit of Mount Sindas, and confronting the aspirations of settlement expansion to take possession of it in various intimidating and enticing ways, he reveals that unimaginable sums of money have been offered to his father to give up the land, but they are rooted in its soil, and he will remain a thorn in the side of settlement and settlers, planted in Our land is like an olive tree, stressing that the occupation will end.

Under the Tree gives rural Tunisian women a space for free expression

Tunisia - (AFP) - In her first feature film, "Under the Tree," Tunisian-French director Areej Seheiri gives space to "modern" rural women to create a small world in which they can freely express themselves despite the constraints of their conservative society.

For an hour and a half, some female fig pickers in a rural area in northwestern Tunisia share their secrets, their love stories, and their differences.

The feature film will be released in European cinemas soon, and it has been selected to represent Tunisia in the 2023 Oscars competition in the Best Foreign Film category.

Al-Suhairi, 40, said in an interview with Agence France-Presse that the field of fig trees adjacent to the village of Kesra "represents a space of freedom in which workers, especially young women, exchange conversations and discussions on all topics freely."

The actors, who are amateurs from this region and are accustomed to working in the agricultural field, tried to tell stories and excerpts from their harsh lives, which are somewhat similar to the hardness of a tree trunk, but at the same time are fragile and sensitive like the fruit of a ripe fig.

Al-Sehairi adds, "The film is inspired by real events told to me about female farm workers who work hard throughout the year, and also from high school girls who come in the summer" during vacation.

Actress Amani Al-Fudaili plays the role of the girl "Fidaa" in the film, and she originally works as a cherry picker during the summer holidays in her village.

The film revolves around a group of mainly young girls who, sometimes with the help of a boy, pick the ripe and fragile figs and then hand them over to older women to pack them carefully in boxes. And all this happens under the supervision of the chief of work, who represents a symbol of traditional patriarchal authority.

“Under the Tree” was produced with a modest budget of 300,000 euros, and it is “a film about the individual and the group because they are inseparable,” according to Al-Suhairi.

The artwork also touches on the concept of solidarity between women when they share lunch, as well as the desire for liberation, and this is clearly shown when they go for a walk with the boys by the river or when they make themselves up after a hard day of work, and take pictures and post them on social media.

"Our youth is as contemporary as in the rest of the world," says the director, adding that she is trying to "avoid stereotypes of rural women that are marketed abroad as introverted and miserable."

Fidaa and her co-workers are well aware of the difficult economic and political situation that Tunisia is going through, but they do not give up dreaming of a better future.

The director also shows women over the age of fifty, exhausted from the trouble of years, who spend the rest period to take a nap or talk about issues related to their physical pain and their brokenness.

The film presents this intersection between the two generations, "because working women may reflect a picture of the girls' future," according to Al-Suhairi.

The director granted the actors absolute freedom to improvise the dialogue while respecting the pillars of the script, which "made the director very happy", especially in terms of "the ease of expression among young people freely, simply, honestly and spontaneously."

Al-Sehiri did not think, when making this “different and special” film, that it would win awards, nor that it would represent Tunisia in the Oscars.

Her work won the “Silver Tanit” award at the “Carthage Film Festival” in 2022, after winning the “Bayer d’Or” award at the Francophone Film Festival in Namur (Belgium) and the “Echo Proud” committee award at the Cannes Film Festival.

The film is a joint production between Tunisia, France, Switzerland, Germany and Qatar, and it will start showing on Wednesday in France, and contracts have been signed for its distribution in Italy and the United Kingdom.

Al-Suhairi concludes, "I am very happy. A first film made by amateurs could not have been better than it was. This is amazing."

The American embargo negatively affects the lives of Cubans

HAVANA (Xinhua) -- Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas said in recent days that the US embargo dealt a huge blow to the Cuban economy and society, considering it "the main obstacle for the Cuban people in their pursuit of prosperity."

Thousands of Cubans are affected every day by the embargo imposed by the United States on the island.

Yasil Rodriguez, a 32-year-old who works in a mobile phone repair shop in Havana, told Xinhua that due to the embargo, Cubans cannot access many software and applications developed in the United States.

"It's annoying," he said. "We are supposed to be able to access all websites and apps, but this is not possible due to US sanctions."

The US embargo on Cuba was first imposed in 1962, and former US President Donald Trump has tightened it with 243 other measures, including banning all US Airways flights from the US to Cuban cities except Havana and limiting remittances that Cuban Americans can make. Sent to their families who live on the island among others.

Giulis Vega, a resident of Havana who is visually impaired, said the ban negatively affects the living standards of people with disabilities.

"If the US embargo is lifted, Cuba will have access to technologies and medicines that contribute greatly to the well-being of people like me," he said.

Eduardo Rivas, president of the Cuban Society of Cardiology, said the US sanctions directly affect people suffering from cardiovascular diseases.

"The US blockade restricts the ability of the Cuban public health system to purchase defibrillators on the international market," he said.

Under the current US administration, airlines have resumed flights to Cuba out of Havana and restrictions on family remittances to Cuba have been lifted.

"These are positive measures, but if the US government really wants to help the Cuban people, they have to end the blockade," Havana resident Yaclin Santana said.

Disney + continues to climb, attracting 14.4 million new subscribers

San Francisco - (AFP) - The Disney + streaming platform managed to attract 14.4 million new subscribers between March and June, bringing its total number of subscribers to 152 million and reassuring the market that was showing reassurance. She feared that the digital services sector had reached the point of saturation, at a time when the effects of its prosperity resulting from the closure conditions during the pandemic had ended, and in light of the increasing inflation that weighed on consumers.

Total subscribers for Disney's streaming platforms (Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ for sports) reached 221 million, ahead of industry veteran Netflix, which is declining. In its paid services to 220.67 million at the end of June.

The entertainment giant, whose share price increased by more than 6 percent on the stock exchange during electronic trading after the close, also revealed a new plan under which it provides the possibility to subscribe to “Disney +” services for a cheaper fee, but with ads, according to a statement also published Wednesday.

Overall, Disney's revenue rose 26 percent year-on-year to $21.5 billion in the third quarter of the deferred fiscal year, also exceeding analysts' expectations.
Disney's net profit rose by half in one year, reaching $1.4 billion.
As for the theme parks sector affiliated with “Disney” and its derivative products, it achieved revenues of $ 7.4 billion, an increase of 70 percent over the previous year, due to the resumption of urban activities after the negative impact of the pandemic on daily life decreased in all parts of the world.
Paul Verna of Insider Intelligence noted that "Disney's core businesses, including theme parks and movie theaters, are reviving but still face some hurdles, such as the uncharacteristically tepid response to Lightyear, its latest animated film." From "Pixar".
The results of the "Disney +" spread satisfaction among the financial market.
And the analyst believed that "investors will breathe a sigh of relief," explaining that the platform's numbers "will be considered an indication of the health of the market, especially after the poor results of the platforms + Netflix + and + Comcast +."
And “Disney +”, which was launched in late 2019 and achieved a very rapid rise in the streaming sector, attracts more than 45 percent of the users of this service in the United States, behind “YouTube”, “Netflix”, “Amazon” and “Hulu” subsidiary. The Disney Collection, according to Insider Intelligence figures.
Although the negative repercussions of the pandemic on the urban activities of the entertainment empire were very severe, “Disney +” was able to take off strongly, thanks in part to its huge lineup of films and series, and to its successful franchises.
But the group's huge investments have not yet paid off. During the past quarter, the three live broadcast platforms of the "Disney" group increased their net losses by $ 300 million to reach $ 1.1 billion.
"We remain confident that Disney + will reach profitability in 2024," said CFO Christine McCarthy in a telephone interview with analysts.
However, it lowered its expectations regarding a number of goals, including, for example, its estimate of between 215 and 245 million, the number of subscribers that Disney + will reach in 2024 (including "Hot Star", the Indian version of the platform), which is 15 million less than what was announced. Previously announced.
To achieve this, Disney+ will have to “decide whether to try to expand beyond family content,” said Jamie Lumley, analyst at Thirdbridge.
The head of the American group, Bob Chapek, hopes that new programs will contribute to gaining new subscribers during the current quarter, including a new series from “Marvel” Studios entitled “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law”, the “Endor” series belonging to the world of “Star Wars”, And Disney's "Hocus Pocus 2".
During the phone interview, Chapek also announced a documentary series dealing with the popular South Korean K-pop group BTS.

Last quarter's results raised concerns about the growth of major entertainment platforms, from "Netflix" to "Facebook", through video games.

For example, Netvix lost about a million subscribers between March and June, after it had also lost a portion of its subscribers during the first quarter, for the first time in its history.

The veteran platform in the sector and its fierce competition are no longer satisfied with providing new content, but rather have begun to adopt different strategies to grow their subscriber base and enhance their profitability.

In this context, “Disney +” announced on Wednesday a new subscription plan with ads dedicated to the United States, at a price of eight dollars per month, which will be available starting in December. As for the subscription fee without ads, it will rise to 11 dollars, an increase of three dollars over the current allowance. Hulu prices will also go up.

As for “Netflix”, which announced in April its intention to provide a similar subscription formula after years of refusing this solution, it is also in the process of tightening the screws on sharing identifiers and passwords, a practice that allows many to access the content of the platform without paying.

At least 30 people died in the sinking of two migrant boats in Greece, in a new toll

ATHENS, (AFP) - A new body was found on Tuesday after two boats carrying migrants sank last week in Greece's Aegean Sea, the Greek coast guard said, bringing the death toll to at least 30.
According to a toll published on Saturday, the number of victims was 29.

The body of a woman was recovered on Tuesday off the island of Kithira, in the south of the Peloponnese peninsula, where a sailboat carrying 95 migrants ran aground on Wednesday night, while strong winds were blowing in this area.

Eighty people were saved in this sinking accident. One of them was arrested Saturday, suspected of being a smuggler.

Also, at least 18 people, most of them women, died in another drowning accident off the island of Lesbos, in the northeastern Aegean Sea, in the eastern Mediterranean, at dawn on Thursday.

The boat was carrying 40 Somalis, of whom only 10 were wearing life jackets, according to the Greek authorities.

In the first eight months of the year, the Coast Guard rescued 1,500 people, 600 more than last year.

Athens is often accused of forcibly returning migrants and refugees from neighboring Turkey, while Athens accuses Ankara of being responsible for the drowning incidents in the Aegean Sea separating the two countries.

Greek Immigration Minister Notis Mitarachi told the MED5 conference Saturday in Paphos (Cyprus) that "Turkey must be pressured at the EU level to prevent illegal flights sailing from Turkey, otherwise the loss of life will continue."

The five Mediterranean countries in the first lines to receive immigrants (Greece, Spain, Cyprus, Malta and Italy) participated in the conference.

A Saudi delegation meets the Houthis in Sana'a regarding a prisoner exchange

Sanaa - (AFP) - A Saudi delegation visited the Yemeni capital, which is under the control of the Houthis, for talks on a prisoner exchange between the two sides involved in a fierce war for years, while a rebel delegation visited the kingdom for the same purpose, the two sides announced Thursday.

The mutual visit has been rare since the beginning of the conflict in Yemen, where the government, backed by a Saudi-led military coalition, has been fighting a war against the Iran-backed Houthis, who have controlled the capital and vast areas of the country since 2014.

The parties to the conflict often conduct prisoner exchanges, some of which included Saudi soldiers.

The head of the Houthi-affiliated National Committee for Prisoners' Affairs, Abdul Qadir Al-Murtada, said in a statement, "We received a Saudi technical delegation, and the aim of their visit is to see the conditions of their prisoners affiliated with them, who are with us, and also to match the names in reality, verify them and pave the way for an exchange process (.. .) In the near future".

"Yesterday, we bid farewell to a technical team from the National Committee for Prisoners' Affairs, which visited Saudi prisons to see the conditions of our prisoners who are with them, as well as to compare the names and match them with the reality inside the prisons, and to see the conditions of the prisoners and check on them," he added, according to the rebel news agency, Saba. .

For his part, the official spokesman for the coalition forces, Brigadier General Turki al-Maliki, said that "two delegations from the coalition and the Houthis exchanged visits to prisoners of both sides as a goodwill initiative, and as part of confidence-building efforts to extend the armistice in Yemen."

The armistice ended on the second of October, six months after it began, after the parties to the conflict failed to reach an agreement to extend it.

Al-Maliki added, as quoted by the government news agency "SPA", that this visit, "of a humanitarian nature, deals with the file of prisoners as a purely humanitarian situation, and it also comes as one of the gains of the armistice and the endeavor to extend it and expand its gains on the lives of Yemenis in terms of humanitarian, economic and living conditions, to start the political process, and reach peace." comprehensive in Yemen.

Footage from a video recording distributed by the Houthis showed the Saudi delegation exiting a United Nations plane at Sana'a airport and shaking hands with Houthi officials, then they went together to a number of prisons and met prisoners.

It is not known the number of Saudi prisoners in Sana'a.

The war caused the death of more than 377 thousand people, directly or indirectly, according to a United Nations report at the end of last year, meaning that they died either in bombing and fighting, or as a result of indirect repercussions such as hunger, disease, and lack of drinking water.

The country is now facing the risk of an escalation of violence after the collapse of the truce.

On Thursday, the United Nations envoy to Yemen, Hans Grundberg, told the Security Council that "while I work with the parties to find solutions, I urge them to show the necessary leadership and flexibility to reach an agreement to extend and expand the truce."

In his video address to the UN Security Council, the Swedish diplomat welcomed, "The restraint shown by the two sides since the end of the armistice on October 2, fortunately, we have not witnessed any major military escalation."

A field of corn in Argentina represents the face of Messi

Ballesteros - (AFP) - A field of corn was planted in Argentina in a way that highlights the face of football star Lionel Messi , who led his country to victory in the World Cup, in a new step honoring him after tattoos and murals representing him.

The agricultural engineer, Charlie Varicelli, who is behind this initiative, explained to AFP that Messi's face is becoming more prominent with the growth of maize in one of the fields of Ballesteros in the province of Cordoba (north).

He said, "The idea represents a tribute from the agricultural sector to Messi. We wanted to do this regardless of whether he would lead his country to win the World Cup or not, but he managed to achieve that," explaining that "the cultivation of corn in the shape of Messi's face began before the start of the World Cup, It follows from our faith in the player.”

Messi's face was created by sowing seeds at different densities with the help of a digital agricultural platform. "With the development of technology, the agricultural machinery has become aware of the amount of seeds that should be sown in different places," the engineer said.

Varricelli called on farmers, through the communication sites, to follow his example and honor Messi in the same way, while publishing the digital program that he used to benefit them.

He said, "25 fields were planted in the shape of Messi's face before, during and after the World Cup in five provinces. While the Argentine player's face appears clearly in some of them, it is not clear in a number of them, due to the date of planting the seeds or the extent of the region's exposure to drought."

"We are very happy with this honor and we are also happy with Argentina's victory. We sympathize with the team because it suffered before the victory, while the agricultural sector is suffering in turn," he said, referring to the drought that hits the central-eastern provinces of the country, including Cordoba, although weather forecasts indicate the possibility Rainfall in Ballesteros over the next few days.
Once the harvest is over in June and July, Messi's face will still be visible thanks to the large density of waste, and the drawing, in one form or another, will become permanently visible.

Lolo de Silva's victory in the Brazilian presidential elections is important, but the most important thing is his retention of power
