The Palestinian Authority refuses to receive the clearance funds after deducting the Gaza allocations

A Palestinian official revealed to Al-Sharq TV that the Palestinian Authority refused to receive customs transfers after the Israeli government cut the Gaza Strip’s share.

The Palestinian Authority in Gaza pays about $120 million a month in salaries for its employees and retirees, health and education expenses, and others.

In its last meeting, the Israeli government decided to deduct everything the Palestinian Authority pays in Gaza, in addition to deducting the value of what it pays to the families of martyrs and prisoners.

The customs transfers that Israel collects on Palestinian imports constitute more than 70% of the Palestinian government’s budget.

The official said that cutting government allocations to the Gaza Strip entails a great political risk of completely separating the Strip from the West Bank, which we will never accept.

He said that President Mahmoud Abbas will raise the issue of financial cuts and Israeli measures towards the Gaza Strip in his discussions with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken today, Sunday, in Ramallah.

Blinken will arrive in Ramallah on Sunday morning, after his visit to the Jordanian capital, Amman, during which he met with representatives of six Arab countries that asked him to stop the war in Gaza: Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the Emirates, Qatar and Palestine.

The Palestinian official said that President Abbas will demand serious American intervention to stop the massacres of civilians in Gaza and stop Israeli measures aimed at separating the Gaza Strip from the West Bank.

Israel had announced that it would completely separate Gaza from the country after the war, close all crossings with it, and surround it with an advanced security system.

The Israeli financial cuts led to the government's inability to pay the salaries of its employees in both the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
