Israeli authorities prevent 3 European foreign ministers from visiting Area C
In recent weeks, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs prevented three European foreign ministers from visiting Palestinian villages located in Area C in the occupied West Bank, according to what Israeli media reported, citing two European diplomats on Tuesday.
The two European diplomats reported that the foreign ministers of Ireland, Norway and Britain, who visited Israel in recent weeks, requested a tour of Palestinian villages in Area C, but they were prevented from doing so due to the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ opposition to such a tour.
The two European diplomats said that Israel changed its policy against an internal political background, while sources in the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs claimed that the reason for the decision was security.
Since its formation, Netanyahu's current far-right government has prevented Palestinian steps in Area C and has escalated the demolitions of homes and the displacement of village residents from their homes in these areas, claiming that Area C is subject to Israeli security and civil control in accordance with the "Oslo Accords."
