Al-Bosta...a piece of torment for the prisoners

Many prisoners are forced to cancel their exit to the Ramla prison clinic when their illnesses are not chronic, or to accept a court session for them remotely through the screen, as has been the case during the last three years, in order to avoid traveling by busa, which is considered a piece of torment for them, used by the occupation. Israeli means of torture and abuse against them.

An hour's journey could take 5 days!

A prisoner’s journey from his prison to attend his trial session may take five days, back and forth, a journey that normally takes only one hour, due to the procedures taken by the occupation and the introduction of the prisoner into several prisons, Jamil Saadeh, the director of the legal department in the Commission for Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs confirms in an interview For "Quds" dot com.

According to Saadeh, the prisoner who travels from the Negev prison or Raymond prison, arrives at the Ofer prison crossing, or perhaps to the Megiddo prison crossing, and the journey in which the occupation forces the male or female prisoners to disembark and sleep in the prison crossings, as these crossings are sections in the prisons that lack essentials of normal life.

Saade stresses that "Bosta" is psychological torture and a source of anxiety for prisoners, in which the prisoner is shackled, in his hands and feet, and says: "We have filed a complaint against the torture journey in Bosta, we received promises to reduce the duration of the Bosta trips, especially the female prisoners, so the prison administration complied for a while, then came back The prison administration took these practices and reneged the agreement without legal justifications.

The journey of torture in the “Bosta” prisoner spends several days during his transfer from one prison to another, or from prison to court, investigation, hospital, or clinic without regard to the conditions of the sick or the elderly, and the prisoners rest for a few hours in stations in several prisons inside rooms unfit for living human beings.

A day or two before, the prisoner prepares himself psychologically and physically for what he will suffer inside the "busa", where the "torment" journey begins from five o'clock in the morning until late at night, after the prisoner is searched naked and forced to wear the "shabas" clothing of the prisoners, which is colored Al-Bunni, all the way to the "Al-Maabar" section in any prison on their way to such sections, and every time the journey of suffering begins from prison to prison!

Bosta cause trial remotely!

Often, the "Bosta" journey makes the prisoner wish not to get out of prison, to accept his trial session remotely via the screen, and perhaps to be patient with the pain of his illness for fear of going out and causing him double pain, Saadeh explains.

Lawyer Jamil Saadeh says: "During the Corona pandemic, the occupation authorities resorted to trying the prisoners remotely via a special screen, from his prison, and it is a system that was implemented in an emergency situation in the Corona pandemic, but the prisoners are now beginning to demand trial through it for fear of incurring the suffering of traveling through the busta." .

Saadeh added, "The prisoner's attendance at the trial session via the screen was rejected by us as lawyers, as it violates the privacy of the prisoners, and is not legal. We demand the trial in presence, because this is moral support for the prisoner and he meets his family, but the suffering caused by the bosta prompted many prisoners to accept the court session via The screen, and this case we may accept in the event that there is no pronouncement of judgment only.

Mobile dungeons!

The busta resembles a bus from the outside, but it is divided into cells from the inside, in which the prisoners are confined almost completely, and everything in it is made of iron, and it lacks the necessities of life, and it becomes more like an oven in the summer, and a refrigerator in the winter, which compounds the suffering of the prisoners, who are transported by " Cells,” explained the released prisoner, Louay Al-Mansi, in an interview with Al-Quds.com.

The Bosta looks modern and beautiful on the outside, but on the inside it is divided; For the members of the Nahshon unit who are equipped with their equipment and police dogs, or to place the prisoners on iron benches or cells in which male or female prisoners are placed who are tied by their hands and feet, or the prisoners with high sentences or who are isolated.

According to Al-Mansi, "the busta constitutes great suffering for the prisoners, as it is a bus divided into cells, and all its components, even the seats, are made of iron, and the nature of the prisoners' restrictions causes suffering for them, and any driving of the busta by its driver may cause the prisoners to suffer bruises or bruises, even if an accident occurs." Simple compounds the pain of captives.

Even the regular cells may be better than the "busta", as there are no bathrooms in the "busta", apart from the humiliating and meticulous restraints and searches, and they are not equipped with air conditioning in summer or winter.

According to Al-Mansi, the prisoners suffer from hunger and thirst, and they are unable to go to the bathroom, even if the distances are long, and no distinction is made between a patient or someone else. The prisoner may suffer from diseases and pains in the future, such as “disc” and bone diseases, and the prisoner is forced to wear “Shabas” clothes. Brown.

Al-Mansi indicates that what is happening in the "Bosta" is a kind of collective punishment against the prisoners, even prayer is not allowed for them to perform, which forces them to pray while they are tied without knowing the location of the qiblah, and they perform orphanage instead of ablution, and it also increases the suffering of the prisoners that they are forced to move in the "Bosta". With criminal Jewish prisoners.

For his part, the released prisoner, Maher al-Akhras, told Al-Quds.com: "What increases the suffering of the prisoners is that those who control them are the elements of the "Nahshon" unit, which is dedicated to suppressing the prisoners, and who subject the prisoners, during their travel through the "Bosta", to various kinds of torment. Often, prisoners are placed in cells inside that bus, according to the file of each prisoner and the extent of his danger to the occupation.

As for handcuffs and handcuffs, the released prisoner al-Akhras explains that prisoners are shackled by the hands and feet, and in the pelvis and thighs, with iron shackles! It is a process similar to torture and shabeh, while al-Akhras indicates that the sick prisoner was not given the choice to be patient with his illness and dispense with treatment or go out to the Ramla prison clinic to receive treatment, due to the virtue of remaining in prison and being patient with the disease, or perhaps he would accept not seeing his family whom he misses, because of what it causes. Bosta from the suffering of the prisoner.

All prisoners are prohibited from speaking, smoking, or even carrying the Holy Qur’an, and they eat their meals while shackled. All the windows of the “busa” are closed, which makes it stink. It is equipped with surveillance cameras, while rain water may enter from its roof in winter days.
