8 dead and 13 wounded as a result of shooting in Serbia
Eight people were killed and 13 wounded Thursday evening in a shooting near the Serbian city of Mladenovac, about 60 km south of the capital, Belgrade, according to local media.
And the public channel "RTS" reported that the perpetrator fired from inside a moving vehicle using an automatic weapon before fleeing, adding that the police were searching for the suspect.
The police closed the road leading to two villages in the area where the shooting took place, according to an AFP photographer at the scene.
A number of policemen and ambulances were dispatched to the scene, while helicopters hovered over the site.
Serbian Interior Minister Bratislav Gasic described the incident as a "terrorist act".
N1 reported that people worried about their relatives had gathered outside the emergency medical center in Belgrade, where at least eight of the wounded were taken. The Minister of Health came to the center for a brief visit.
This comes in the wake of an unprecedented shooting in a school in Belgrade, during which a 13-year-old student killed eight of his friends and a security guard, in an incident that shocked the country.
On Wednesday evening, President Aleksandar Vucic spoke of "one of the most difficult days" in Serbia's contemporary history.
