Two drone attacks targeted oil refineries in Russia
Media and local authorities reported that two drones targeted oil refineries in southwestern Russia, near Ukraine, following a supposed drone attack on the Kremlin.
The "TASS" and "RIA Novosti" agencies quoted emergency services as saying that a fire, which the firefighting teams were able to put out later, broke out in an oil tank at the Elsky refinery in the Krasnodar region, as a result of an attack by an "unidentified drone."
The governor of the region, Veniamin Kondratyev, said in a post on the Telegram application that the fire was initially contained within an area of 400 square meters, and then quickly extinguished by emergency services.
About an hour later, Vasily Golubev, governor of the Rostov region bordering Ukraine, announced that a drone had been shot down at a local oil refinery near the village of Kiselivka.
According to the same source, the plane caused an explosion and fire, which the refinery workers put out "immediately."
Golubev added, "There were no casualties, and the damage to the facilities was minimal."
For his part, the governor of the Voronezh region bordering Ukraine also announced, via Telegram, that the local air defenses shot down a drone early in the morning, without causing casualties or damage.
These two attacks come after other similar attacks with explosive-laden drones that have targeted sites in Russia or in the Crimea peninsula, which Russia annexed to it, in recent days.
The most prominent of these attacks occurred with two drones that targeted, according to Moscow, the Kremlin building in Moscow, and were shot down by Russian defenses.
Russia accused the Ukrainian authorities of being behind this failed attempt to "assassinate" President Vladimir Putin, but Kiev denied any involvement in this attack.
On the night of Tuesday-Wednesday, a drone attack targeted a fuel depot in Volna, Krasnodar region.
Although Ukraine has not announced any of these attacks, it comes at a time when Kiev says it has completed its preparations for the big spring offensive announced weeks ago.
