Lebanon may turn into a hot front.. Haaretz: Iran is reaping political gains that are difficult to eliminate with missiles

The Hebrew newspaper Haaretz said, on Sunday, that while Israel is counting the number of missiles it launches and the weapons stores it destroys, Iran is reaping political gains that are difficult to eliminate with missiles.

The Hebrew newspaper referred to the Israeli bombing of Homs at dawn yesterday, targeting weapons and ammunition stores for Hezbollah near the city of Homs, noting that this raid was carried out less than a day after the end of Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Abdullahian's visit to Beirut and the northern border.

The newspaper says: "It is not clear what was the urgency of carrying out the attack yesterday, especially since there was no weapons convoy that could disappear, other than the desire to send a clear message to Iran one day after the visit of its foreign minister near the border with Israel." According to her saying.

And she added, "This is the nature of the dialogue that Israel is conducting with Iran, within the framework of what was known as the "campaign between the two wars," noting that this is part of a battle that is currently being waged until a comprehensive war is reached.

She pointed out that Lahian's visit came after the agreement to renew relations with Saudi Arabia, an agreement that shook the entire region, noting that Tehran is currently promoting a political solution to the deep economic crisis that Lebanon is experiencing.

Haaretz says that, unlike the media statements, Iran is facing a crossroads of basic decisions, dictated specifically by the renewal of relations between Tehran and Riyadh, and the rapprochement between Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries with Syria, which may return to the Arab League, in order to maintain its position. , which is why Iran must begin adjusting its positions with those who until recently were its arch-rivals. as she said.

The newspaper referred to the internal Lebanese crisis and the accompanying Arab and international interventions, noting that Lebanon's economic future does not depend only on Saudi Arabia, but that the Arab legitimacy of the Assad regime also passes through Riyadh, and here lies Iran's vital interest in clarifying who owns the government in Damascus, especially after Russia reduced its political activity to find a solution to the war in Syria after the war in Ukraine, as it said.

It indicates that the Arab legitimacy of Assad - from Iran's point of view - may lead to international legitimacy even though the United States is not a partner with it, and thus the strategic distinction between the Iranian axis and the Arab axis, which until a year ago served as the basis for the anti-Iranian alliance in which Israel was a factor.

The Hebrew newspaper believes that the new system of relations in the region may give Iran a new regional status and withdraw it from Arab isolation, but for that the price will be for it to offer flexibility in the issue of the Lebanese presidency in favor of the Saudi position, and it may agree to a candidate other than the one that Hezbollah is pushing towards, along with the solution. The politician in Syria, who may oblige Assad to grant a seat of honor to Saudi Arabia, and Abran must swallow this frog, to ensure Arab Syria, and to avoid political confrontation with Saudi Arabia after it has become a "brother country."

From Israel's point of view, the direct consequences could be to reduce the freedom of military action it enjoys in Syria, and perhaps even to stop it completely, because Syria may enjoy Saudi protection, and Turkey may agree to withdraw from its lands, and for Russia to go to examine the permission it gives to Israel. To act however it likes in Syria, so Israel may have to return to the old and less favorable rules of the game, according to which its hot front will be directly against Lebanon and not in the appropriate stadium "Syria", where it can exceed the balance of deterrence it has against Hezbollah.
