Study: The high rate of uterine cancer deaths in the United States

LOS ANGELES - (Xinhua) -- U.S. uterine cancer deaths have risen, according to a recent study published Thursday, adding that the highest death rate was among non-Hispanic black women.

The study, which was led by researchers from the US National Cancer Institute, showed that higher death rates were associated with a higher incidence of aggressive subtypes of uterine cancer.

The researchers found that from 2010 to 2017, deaths among women of all racial and ethnic groups from uterine cancer overall increased by 1.8 percent annually.

Deaths from subtypes of non-endometrial cancer, which are more aggressive than endometrial cancer, increased by 2.7 percent annually, while death rates from endometrial cancer were stable during this period.
The death rate among black women due to uterine cancer in general and non-endometrial subtypes was more than double that of other racial and ethnic groups, according to the study.
