Is there a role for Palestinian academics and elites in the next stage?

Written by: Dr. Suleiman Issa Jaradat

A century ago, the Palestinian people were one of its most important concerns, educational and academic development, which was reflected in aspects of social, political, economic, cultural and intellectual life and the struggle against the British Mandate and its resistance, in addition to playing a role in the development, development and renaissance of other peoples who lacked the basics of life at the time.
And after the Palestinian people were exposed to the largest international conspiracy and regional betrayal and the division of the world into two camps in the history of peoples and rights by establishing the Israeli occupation entity in Palestine, and since that era the awareness of the Palestinians has increased to continue their struggles in all legitimate ways and to continue to seek knowledge from all countries of the world until they were among the pioneers in the fields defined at the global level.
Despite the exceptional situation of the Palestinian reality and the efforts that have been made during the past decades and still are, the estimates for the number of PhD holders "PHD" in Palestine are more than 18 thousand, and like the rest of the other segments, they had a role in engaging and actively participating in societal political issues through bodies, associations, federations and unions . In general terms, their experience is significant in tangible practical performance and giving, despite their lack of fairness and giving them opportunities during the past decades to achieve their ambitions in social, political and functional positions compared to the rest of the other groups in our local society in its various orientations and sectors.
And to create an active movement for that important segment and to keep pace with its pioneering role in the next stage and its entitlements through official frameworks only according to what is in force in developed countries or at a minimum in countries that give importance to investing in human resources for elites, academics, administrators, scholars and experts in various fields in state institutions and community institutions (organizational in its various names) And to realize the amount of work required to be followed towards them, especially the challenges they face in the stages that passed to their absence or lack of interest in their presence, intentionally or unintentionally, due to their participation in any entitlements of public concern, and limiting them to some repetitive names and titles that end with announcing on social networking sites and dealing with them legally and principally.
And if we touch on the status of PhD holders in trade unions, bodies, federations, associations, and society, and with a comprehensive review at the level of forming committees for political organizations, then thousands of academics and administrators in Palestinian universities and state institutions are absent and marginalized. The question here is: Why is this segment excluded by invitations and consultations in conferences, meetings and meetings, despite the possibility of obtaining their preparation and creating a detailed database that includes their educational attainment, academic and administrative achievements, efforts, capabilities, experiences, etc. The requirements of the next stage and facing the rapid developments in the world, in our region and in our Palestinian region, and choosing an inclusive and unified framework within clear and declared binding policies and strategies that serve the national affairs for the benefit of society in general and the governmental institution and relevant frameworks in particular to fortify its role and its internal front by establishing close, equal and long-term cooperation relations by contacting and communicating with Elites with a prestigious reputation for the influence of many of them by virtue of their work in changing public opinion, which is in dire need to close ranks and consolidate the principle of partnership between all components to produce the best desired results.
It is clear that there is an opportunity for them to have a role in setting many perceptions, solutions, and solutions to many issues through the support of government institutions and the local community in all its sectors and components with research and studies, and presenting visions and plans with strategic dimensions for renaissance and development, and constitute a living model that will be appreciated, valued, and takes great resonance from all components of our society. The Palestinian Authority to implement the vision of President Mahmoud Abbas and the political leadership with their wise decisions in opening the way for community elites to invest in bright scientific academic experiments and models that stem from the community’s need for them in order to achieve justice and equality. And to take into account the public interest and its demands.
The question is also: Will this segment remain asleep in its slumber, even though it alone bears the responsibility, especially those who have long years of buried ambitions and prestige and surrendered to the fait accompli? A question that needs a psychological, social, political, legal, administrative, and functional explanation from the “PHD” campaign.
Finally: the bell must be rung towards a comprehensive vision for this segment and youth elites, and they are numerous in our Palestinian society, where actual investment must be made for their activity and activating their role in the fields of political, factional, economic, community and union work in various aspects, and their actual and practical participation in programs that meet the needs and require serious study to reconsider the policy Their role is to benefit society from their scientific and practical achievements while not opening the way for the absence of coordination and networking with leadership frameworks, which will lead to repetition and lack of integration, which contributes to wasting energies and wasting opportunity, especially since the next stage needs farsightedness and comprehensiveness at the national and international levels.
