Washington - (AFP) - US President Joe Biden on Monday strongly condemned the missile strikes that hit several Ukrainian cities, saying it "shows the absolute brutality" of the "illegal" war waged by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"These attacks have killed and wounded civilians and destroyed military useless targets," Biden said in a statement, stressing, "We will continue to impose costs on Russia for its aggression."

And he considered that these attacks "once again show the sheer brutality of Mr. Putin's illegal war against the Ukrainian people."
And the US President pointed out that these missile strikes only "reinforce our commitment to stand by the people of Ukraine, no matter how long it takes."

"We, along with our allies and partners, will continue to impose costs on Russia for its aggression, hold Putin and Russia accountable for the atrocities and war crimes that are being committed, and provide the necessary support to Ukrainian forces to defend their country and its freedom," he added.

Biden again called on Russia "to immediately end this unjustified aggression and withdraw its forces from Ukraine."
