Gaza - "Jerusalem" dot com - The Crisis Cell in the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip said today, Wednesday, that the Strip entered into a fifth wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The cell indicated that it held a meeting today and reviewed the epidemiological situation and reviewed the policies, procedures and protocols related to the pandemic in the wake of the increasing number of infections recorded daily in light of the spread of the BA5 type, which has a faster spread than the original mutant.

She said that the data indicates that the number of cases expected to be registered and those that need medical care will not reach what it was during the previous waves, and that vaccination against the Covid 19 virus has proven its effectiveness in enhancing immunity and providing opportunities to prevent infection, reduce its serious complications, and reduce deaths.

The cell recommended, to ensure that those who have not yet received the vaccine receive basic vaccines from the Covid-19 vaccine, as well as to receive booster doses for prevention, and to ensure that masks are worn in health facilities for all workers, patients, escorts, and visitors.

It also recommended making sure to wear a muzzle in closed and crowded places, preventing visiting patients in hospitals and allowing only one companion for the patient when needed.

And it recommended allocating respiratory triage centers in hospitals for serious cases that suffer from severe symptoms, and suspected cases of infection are followed up and a rapid examination is conducted in the declared health centers affiliated with the primary care of the Ministry of Health, UNRWA and civil institutions.
