A Jewish-funded campaign at a California university links criticism of Israel with anti-Semitism
Washington - "Jerusalem" dot com - A Jewish organization is conducting an advertising campaign in the vicinity of the University of Berkeley in California against critics of Israel, accusing them of anti-Semitism.
A funded media campaign was implemented in the university's halls through eight static electronic billboards, one of which reads: "You don't need to go to law school to know that anti-Zionism is anti-Semitism."
This campaign by the Jewish organization "Jew Belong" comes in response to the fact that most of the student organizations at the aforementioned university signed an agreement not to invite any supporter of the Israeli apartheid state or the Zionist movement to participate in student, rhetorical and academic activities at the university's Faculty of Law.
The advertising campaign claims that the position of the student organizations in favor of Palestinian rights aims to create a "Jewish-free zone" in the university, and therefore considers the decision "anti-Semitic".
It should be noted that on August 8, 2022, several student organizations and clubs at the College of Law at the University of Berkeley in the US state of California added a clause in their bylaws that considers Israel an apartheid state and opposes colonialism, racism, and settlement in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The clause calls on the university to withdraw its investments, sever its academic ties with the occupying state, and stop dealing with institutions and companies that are complicit in the occupation of Palestine.
Among the university organizations that have added the clause to their bylaws are: Berkeley Muslim Students Association, Middle East and North African Law Students Association, Students of Color Association, Asia Pacific American Law Students Association, Progressive Students Caucus, Community Defense Project Association, Organization University of Berkeley Law Students and the African American Law Students Association.
The “Students for Justice in Palestine” organization at the University of Berkeley Law School adopted a campaign of communication with student organizations to persuade them to add the clause, as part of an approach to transform student organizations’ solidarity with Palestinian right into a strategic decision stipulated in their internal regulations and constitutions based on their support for social justice inside and outside the United States. .
It is noteworthy that the Faculty of Law at the University of Berkeley, California, was established in 1894, and it is one of the ten most important and oldest American law schools, and it is one of the 14 colleges in the university.
