Artificial Intelligence: Technological Hope in the Face of Occupation
Artificial intelligence is not just an advanced technology, but a means that can bring hope to thousands of our people who live in marginalized and threatened areas. These areas, extending from Masafer Yatta in southern Hebron to the northern Jordan Valley and Khan al-Ahmar, and others, are places where Palestinians live in a harsh reality under the Israeli occupation. Their people suffer from land confiscation, home demolitions, and the lack of some basic services such as education and health care, in addition to the ongoing threat of forced displacement. Here, the role of artificial intelligence comes as an innovative tool that can contribute in a humane way, even if in a simple way, to improving their living conditions and supporting their steadfastness in the face of this escalating terrorism.
AI can help document the violations our people are subjected to in an accurate and systematic manner. The photos and videos that are taken daily can be passed through advanced AI programs to analyze them and identify the violations that are occurring, such as the demolition of homes or encroachments on land. This organized documentation can be used in international courts, for example, to defend the rights of Palestinians and expose the practices of the occupation to the world. Moreover, AI can help create specialized media platforms capable of communicating the stories of these areas to a global audience in influential ways, ensuring that their suffering does not remain confined within the walls of marginalization.
In agriculture, which is the lifeblood of many Palestinian areas, artificial intelligence can be of great help to citizens there. Using applications based on artificial intelligence, it is possible to improve the management of resources such as water and soil, and increase agricultural productivity in difficult conditions. For example, data analysis techniques can be used to predict weather conditions and choose the most appropriate times for planting and harvesting. In areas such as the Jordan Valley, where the population depends heavily on agriculture, artificial intelligence can contribute to enhancing food and economic security for the local community.
In the absence of basic services, AI can fill a major gap in education and healthcare. In education, for example, by creating online educational platforms based on AI technologies, children in marginalized areas can access high-quality educational content despite being out of school or being far from their homes. In the health field, AI applications can provide remote medical consultations and initial diagnoses, alleviating the suffering of residents who have to travel long distances to reach the nearest health facility.
Preserving the land in the face of settlement expansion is a daily battle for our heroes in these areas. AI technologies can analyze aerial images and spatial data to monitor any changes on the ground in real time, helping local committees move quickly to protect their lands. Moreover, AI-based applications can be developed to enable our people there to manage their local resources more efficiently, enhancing their resilience in the face of challenges.
But AI is not just a technical tool; it can be a means of highlighting the human stories that these areas carry. Using text analysis and content production techniques, it is possible to create compelling narratives that highlight the resilience of Palestinians in the face of occupation, and these narratives can reach a global audience in creative ways. Such efforts can build a strong international support network for these areas and their residents, which enhances their chances of obtaining solidarity and support.
AI can also provide early warning systems for citizens to warn them of potential threats, whether sudden settler movements or decisions to demolish their homes. This type of technology can make a huge difference in saving families and reducing their losses. In times of crisis, AI can help organize relief efforts and distribute resources fairly and quickly.
Talking about artificial intelligence in this context is not a luxury, but rather an urgent necessity. In the face of occupation, clinging to the land and the right to a decent life becomes a daily challenge. However, our Palestinian people have a strong will that makes them search for every possible means to enhance their steadfastness. Artificial intelligence can be an effective part of the Palestinian struggle, to provide the tools that enable us to persevere and survive.
Ultimately, employing AI in marginalized and threatened Palestinian areas is not just a use of modern technology, but rather an expression of human commitment to a just cause. It is a means of empowering the voiceless, highlighting their stories to the world, and supporting their legitimate right to live with dignity on their land. This type of intervention carries a message of hope for those who are steadfast in their land that technology can be at their service, helping them to challenge difficult circumstances and opening up a new horizon for life and resilience.
